Well we've been engaged for almost a month now, but I just found this site and wanted to share my story.

My fiance and I have been together for almost three years now. I knew he bought the ring a few months ago, so I've been waiting anxiously on pins and needles for him to pop the question. But, he kept saying he wanted it to be a surprise. Impossible, right?
My fiance is going into the military. He left for LDAC in early June. I was told to pick him up at the airport on July 15th. While he was there, I was only able to talk to him through letters. I wrote him every other day, if only to say, "I love you." And everyday I raced to the mailbox hoping to get something from him. But, nothing ever came. It was the most frustrating and disappointing thing. But, I was assured by family and friends that there must be a reason, either he was too busy or unable to write me.
I got off of work late on July 13th, two days before Jake was supposed to come home. I pulled into my driveway and there he was, standing at the front door. I didn't believe my eyes at first. He was supposed to be 2000 miles away. He had a bouquet of hydrangeas (my favorite) and lavender hand picked from his mom's garden, and folded up in the bouquet were tons of little letters. He didn't have enough postage to send them, so he saved them, and every last one of them melted my heart. He pulled the ring from his pocket, got down on one knee in our lawn, and asked me to be his wife.
Turns out, everyone knew but me, lol. They all convinced me he was coming back on the wrong day, just so that I would be surprised.

We are getting married in just over 9 months! May 11, 2013
