Walking the Aisle?

my fiance and I have been together many years, we are finally getting married this year. We have children together and I was wondering if i should have my oldest son walk me down the aisle? My father and dear sweet grandfather have passed. I have an older brother and a brother in law. My brother is not who i would choose to walk me down the aisle but I would ask my brother in law. My fiance does not think it is appropriate for our son to walk me. My mother would be very upset if I asked my brother in law over my brother not to mention my how angry my brother would be. I am torn. Should I just walk alone? My brother and mother would be upset if anyone other than my brother walked me.

I think you have several options:

1-walk with your son, but depending on his age it might be hard to get him down the aisle (but maybe since he will be with mom he'll be fine).

2-walk by yourself

3-walk with your mom.

If you walking with BIL could cause some drama I wouldn't do it and I wouldn't walk with anybody who wasn't meaningful so I would not walk with your brother either. HTH.

my vote is for you to either walk alone or walk together.
after all, you've been together for so long, that it may not make sense for someone to be "giving you away" as you so clearly belong to each other already, and have done for quite some time.

That's why many modern brides don't consider it giving away but rather just escorting.

OP, I think you should have your mom or your son do it. But if your FI thinks it's weird for your son to do it (though I disagree) that's all the more reason to have your mom walk you down!

Either walk by yourself, with your fiance, or with your mom. I think it'd be great to walk with your son, but if you FI doesn't like that for whatever reason, it's not worth fighting over.

I walked the aisle with my FI on our wedding day.
The whole idea of dad-giving-daughter didn´t fit, bc I had a previous relationship that didn´t work out.

My daughter (from my previous relationship) was the flowergirl, so she walked ahead of us and spread rose petals in the aisle.

Right behind her, DH and I walked the aisle, side by side, arm by arm, to Shania Twain´s "You´ve got a way"
