Make my hair salon decision please!

We'll be staying at the DoubleTree on Concord Pike in Wilmington.

Town and Country is $51 for an updo, and $50 for makeup. With all my girls, I'd get free make up and have 2 $20 off coupons, and a $10 off coupon for a manicure. It's about 20 minutes away.

Then I was looking at Pagave salon in Indepence Mall. It's $65 for me and $55 for the BMs, and $50 for makeup. It's right down the street.

I do love me some coupons, but I'm not from the area and have no idea who's good and who's not. STRESS!!!

I have never been to Town & Country.. but I do remember someone on this board not having a great experience there (MBR-was that you?).  I've been to Pagave before, and I really like their work.  You should also check out Todd's Salon.  It's in the same shopping center as Pagave but on the other side of The Melting Pot.

ETA: Also... think about Ulta.  I know I work there, but the prices there are a bit lower.  I'm not a hair stylist or an esthetician, so I'm not pushing my services here.  Make up application is $30, and I think updos start at $50.  No coupons (unless I get a Friends and Family between now and then, but they're normally only good for one week... so it would have to be a perfect storm) but it's in Wilmington, and less than Pagave.
Paprika: I like it when you burp in my ear. It really turns me on.

I haven't had a good experience at Town and Country either.  It wasn't terrible, but I would just prefer not to go back there.

RA- I looked at Todd's, but according to their website, they don't have makeup. I was thinking about Ulta, but the fact that it's a chain makes me nervous. Is that stupid?

Stay far, far away from Town and Country.  It's like being on an auto assembly line, on your are getting your hair done.  And they never talk to you- silly, but a must if you are my hair stylist!  Plus, my hair cut was not that great for the prices.

Look into Gloss- seriously.  It's in Newark; Mrs.Lura had her hair and makeup done there (they also come to you) and it looked FAB.  Like, amazing.  You can page her if you want more info on pricing.

I wouldn't be too worried about Ulta being a chain.  The artists there are trained for that.

You can also look into Ferrari, which is in Pike Creek.  It's a hole in the wall, but a friend had her wedding hair done there and they looked awesome.  My husband also gets his hair cut there, and they really do a great job- he's got an oddly shaped head, and they know how to cut it so it doesn't look all weird.  http://www.ferrarihs.com/

There is also a salon in Hockessin, which I cannot for the life of me remember the name of (right next to Manor Care Nursing Home, in the shopping center with PNC Bank) who does decent work.  They did an older knottie who is no longer here, and she was happy.

But seriously, Check into Gloss.  I think they may be exactly what you are looking for.

ETA:  the coupon for the nails at Town and Country just isn't worth it price wise.  Even with a coupon, their nail services will end up being more than a regular nail salon.  If you need recs on a nail salon as well, we can help you with that.  Plus, to be honest, you won't have time the day of to get your nails done.  That will be something you will want to get done Wed, Thurs, or Fri before your wedding (we did Wed, and I was happy I went early- Tips always hurt my nails when they are first put on especially after a long time without them, and getting them done early let me get used to them by the wedding).

Along with waxing- any waxing you get done- do it a WEEK before!  You do not want to have a reaction (even if you have done it before) and you don't want splotches!  FYI, this tip is for everyone else and not just you :)

Marino... don't think of Ulta as the same caliber as Hair Cuttery.  Ulta is actually more of a high end salon; it just happens to be in a store.  But the women that work at Ulta are really talented.

I actually get my hair cut at Todd's Salon.  Don't tell!!  My friend Nikki work there,  and she and I have the same kind of hair. so that's why I started going to her.  I've also had my hair cut at Pagave, and most recently at Salon by Dominic in Hockessin.  I haven't had someone at Ulta cut my hair in over a year!!
