Showed FI the dress!

hahahha... just thought i'd share with you all, so don't be too harsh.
I'm not a fan of surprises or waiting, so it was bound to happen. I'm shocked I lasted 5wks. It's too difficult to keep a secret from my best friend.

I showed him the ad and he loves it! I wanted to get his true feedback so I told him that nothing is set in stone yet and he said of all the dresses I could've picked, this one is the best representation of who I am. Yep, he's a keeper (and so is the dress)!

There's still a huge element of surprise bc he's only seen the ad, not me. But I still enjoyed that genuine "OMG I love this dress" reaction! Now I know he's going to go the extra mile to look fantastic as well.

I won't be showing my FI my dress. He wants the surprise and so do I. He had asked me a bit about my indecisiveness in my dress selecting process and I started talking about how I'm going to get a dress with a lace up back and he immediately changed the subject. He want's no inclination of what it will look like. Except for that he said once when watching SYTTD with me that one strap dresses look like tarzan dresses and that he wouldn't want me in one. Which is fine by me.

I showed mine my dress, but it was hanging in a garment bag and he didn't really get the full effect. It was also 7 months ago, and when I asked him the other day if he remembered anything about it, he said "well, I remember that it looked like a dress." So yeah, even though he's seen it, he couldn't pick it out of a line up even if he tried.

That's awesome he loves it!!

I'm not showing FI mine or telling him much about it, because I really don't care if he doesn't think he likes the style. He won't be paying any attention to it on the day :-)

I didn't really want to show him the dress but he kept begging to see pictures from when i went dress shopping and since hes in afghanistan I gave in a little bit feeling bad like I can at least give him this. i showed him pictures of me in another dress that I didn't get and then showed him links to my top 3 dresses to see the website image so he doesnt know which one I got but he has seen a picture of it.

Well, looks like I'm in the minority here along with a couple others.
FI came home after work today and was asking about the dress. He had a big smile and was just adorable! No more peaks though

I'm not showing him mine. He's seen a picture of it because he saw it when I was talking about how gorgeous I thought it was while searching online. At the time, I didn't think it was even an option in the US because the Pinterest link went to a site in the UK. I'm hoping he has no idea which one I got, but he knows what general style I like.

I'm also not letting my dad see it. I know it's a little odd, but I want him to get the same surprise FI is getting. We're considering hiding the dress at my granny's house when it comes in. I want as few people as possible to know what it looks like so I get the full "OMG that's beautiful" effect at my wedding.

This made me chuckle. My FI doesn't even know a difference between a dress and a skirt (well, he does, but he always confuses them haha) so he would totally say something like that.

Rooney - that is really cool that your FI likes the dress. Both me and my FI want it to be a surprise, so when I picked up my dress I just brought it to my parent's house right away and it'll stay there until I take it to get alterations done.

Me too! If you watch SYTTD, there are episodes when the brides don't even recognize their own dress. hahah.
My bridal salon is keeping my gown there for the year. I lucked out! I bought it off-the-rack and they told me to call in April to start having alterations. No worries for me!

Not showing FI the dress, but he doesn't even want to see the shoes! I didn't see the big deal about the shoes but he wants the whole package to be a surprise. Which I find endearing and slighly weird. LoL

haha no i refuse! he wantsto and trys to guess it but i'm pretty sure at this point he thinks im wearing a pink mermaid dress. when im going with a traditional white dropped waist ball gown mwhahahahahaha

I didn't plan on showing him, but I had some drama with some of my WP telling me that they really didn't like it, and I was all of a sudden unsure of my choice. It wouldn't be my "norm" to show him, but I was so conflicted about it, and he kept asking me to just show him and that he would tell me his opinion. Well, he went with me to the dress shop, and the girls got me into the dress, and when I walked out of the fitting room, he literally dropped his mouth open, and got all teary eyed. I couldn't believe it. He said he didn't know what was wrong with the people that didn't like it (lol), and that they must be crazy. That it was the absolutely perfect dress for me, and he now that he'd seen it, he really didn't want me to wear anything else.

We left, and went to lunch, and when his food came, he said he couldn't even eat because he was afraid I wouldn't get the dress, so I had to promise him that I would. He hasn't seen it with my hair and my makeup and my shoes, etc, so we still have time for that, but as far as the "first look" idea.........it may not happen on our wedding day ,but as far as we are both concerned, we had that moment, we were alone, and I know now that it's the right dress!!

I totally get it! FI is my best friend, and it will be hard not to show him pictures. I did show him one that I fell in love with because it's not a traditional wedding dress. I wanted to see if he would freak out. He said anything I wear would be beautiful. He doesn't even like me to wear makeup (and trust me, I need it) so I'm not too worried. I also asked him how he would feel if I got a blush pink dress. He said that's fine.

I'm not showing him. I had a ton of dress pictures on my phone and FI periodically scrolls through my pics when he's bored. Well, he said he was just goofing around when he started seeing white and stopped. Yeah, last time he scrolled through the pics. I want him to be surprised. I want to be surprised when I walk in and see him in a tux too. SInce I have NO closet space left anymore, my niece will have the dress once I actually have my hands on it, which is great, cuz I think I'd crack and show him.

I haven't showed mine and he doesn't want to see it. It's actually laying in the garment bag on the bed in our spare bedroom and he hasn't touched it. He said he has no interest in seeing it in the bag, he wants to see it on me the day of our wedding. He's kinda sweet like that.
