Rustic Wedding Venues?!?

I am having an October Wedding and I want it to have a very rustic/fall feel.  I live in Mystic and I am willing to have the wedding up to an hour away.  I really need some venue suggestions.  Especially ones that have an indoor reception area big enough for 150 guests.

    Have you checked out the Barns at Wesleyan Hills? It's in Middletown, CT. I went to look at it and loved it; they just didn't have any dates available in the month I wanted.

    Barns at Wesleyan Hills, Tyrone Farm, Wood Acres Farm (only holds 140), Webb House Barn.  Also wineries may be a nice place.  I am actually getting married at the Barns at Wesleyan Hills.  I wanted a barn type venue. 

    Also there is supposedly a new barn venue being built in Mansfield, CT that will open in 2012.  Not sure of the name of it so you may need to do some research on that one.

    Theres a place out in Canterbury too I just cant think of the name right now. But its very rustic and from the pictures online it was very pretty.

    I am getting married at The Barns at Wesleyan Hills - very rustic. It's in Middletown. I absolutely love it!

    Also, Saltwater Farms Vineyard is beautiful but it costs about $8,600 just to rent it.

    I've also seen weddings at the Webb Barn in Wethersfield, CT.

    Have you looked at st. Clements? Venue is located in Portland. Gorgeous and very rustic. Good luck :)

    We just had our wedding in the River Room at Latitude 41/Mystic Seaport.  It definitely has a rustic elegance look to it.  We had about 160 people.

    I heard the Barns at Wesleyan were beautiful but very expensive.  How expensive are we talking?

    I would suggest checking out Bill Miller's Castle in Branford CT if you are looking for something rustic and affordable.  They can do both and outdoor or indoor ceremony.  I'm having my wedding there this October! Good luck! : )

    The Barns has a $4,000 rental fee and then for a Saturday night it is $99.95 per head. With the number of guests we are having (around 135-150) combined with the rental fee we figured it would be about $130 per head.

    Ditto to all of these- with emphasis on St. Clement's castle (LOVE) and the seaport...both are awesome venues!

    Wickham Park!  We had out wedding there on 5/1/11 and it is beautiful.  Outdoor ceremony in a gorgeous park overlooking the Hartford skyline.  Log cabin for dancing and in case of rain for ceremony and a tented area (heated/air conditioned) that holds 150 people.  We used an awesome caterer in Holyoke, MA that includes the Wickham Park fee and open bar with a 4 station menu and tons of appetizers for $99/head.  PM me if you want more info or pictures.

    We just had our wedding at Allegra Farm in Colchester. VERY rustic, he had all the horse carriages around. He usually does not have weddings at his barn (he is the guy you will see at the wedding expos with the carriages), but he is a wonderful guy to work with and will make exceptions (he will do one or two weddings a year, as he has to clean out the barn-again he does a WONDERFUL job).


    This is the inside of the barn where we had the reception. This picture really doesn't do it justice... It was hot (no A/C) and we did all the decorating ourselves, but for the cost of the venue it was perfect for us.

    Everyone loved the venue, and thought it was totally us. Rustic, romantic, and gorgeous.

    You might also want to try the Pavillion @ Crystal Lake in Middletown.  Inside is rustic with exposed beams and has a nice deck overlooking the lake.

    The Pavilions was more classical to me than rustic. A great venue, I was there for a Wedding May 2010, and my MOH is thinking of going there for Oct 2012.

    Here are a few more pictures, I haven't uploaded all the prof pics to my computer yet:


    You can see the horse tack hanging up around the place. This is one of the shots I have that shows it behind the cupcake sharing.

    The dance floor is old bowling ally pieces, and were great! The beams you can see were exposed and we hung white Christmas lights and tulle around them to make the place more elegant but still totally keeping the "rustically romantic" feel.

    The Victorian carriage was really icing on the ceremony cake.

    One of my cousins really loved the place. He told my mom "This is how weddings used to be, in a barn. A long, fun, day, but they would last three days." (If you do a rehearsal and a day after brunch/picnic you totally get a three day event!)

    If you want any more info, PM me, and I can send you detailed reviews about the vendors we used, and what we did to make the day work (TONS of DIY). My mom and MIL went to see the venue and were not 100% with me on the vision I had for the place, but in the end, it was above and beyond even my own expectations.

    Check out Farmington Gardens in Farmington. The owners renovated an old barn and greenhouse and the place is gorgeous! I am getting married there next year and I can not wait! Definitely worth checking out IMO!

    Hi there! I know your post was quite some time ago, if you do see this, please reply! Very interested and in a bind. My fiance and I had checked out wickham park for a ceremony and booked society room of Hartford for reception. We have had a family crises and have to push date back , society room refused to just move date without losing deposit. We may just drop them but now need something more affordable. Who was your caterer, and 99 per head is the price without the gratituity I'm assuming? And what fee of wickham park did they "cover"? I was told guests of wedding have free entry, only other fee I know is the rental fee which is a few thousand . Was supp to get married this coming September ... Help?
