Anyone getting married at Lake Harriet Peace Garden?

I wondered what you do about music, do they have electrical outlets? What additional decorations did you bring to the site?

Amplification is not allowed in the Peace Garden. Here's the list of Minnapolis parks and it states which ones allow amplification. You must rent speakers through their preferred vendor as well.

That page also states that the amplification can only be for spoken word - that all music has to be acoustic, which was a big reason I ruled out all Minneapolis parks, however now on this rules page it says that you can hook up ipods and cd players, so maybe they have changed the rules a bit.

I was just there for a wedding, and there wasn't any amplification.  There were only 75 people there, and I was in the 6th row, and it was quite hard to hear the vows.  Luckily the officiant spoke loudly.  The other issue was that there were kids playing in the fountains, which was quite noisy in the background.  But it was a beautiful place to have a ceremony!

My brother got married at the Lake Harriet Rose Garden (just across the way from the Peace Garden), and they had a string quartet. It was lovely and the perfect type of music (I thought) for the setting. No amplification was needed, it was quiet there and I had no problem hearing the music.

They didn't have any decorations for the site, and honestly, I don't think you'd need them. The Peace Garden is *so beautiful* as it is, I don't know that you need to add to it. Another friend of mine got married there and her pictures were absolutely gorgeous, just taken against the various backdrops in the park.
