What's on your mind?

I've seen this on a few boards and I found that when I participated it really helped me destress a lil.

Good, bad, and ugly...what's on your mind?

    Well I have to vent!!!
My fiance and I met at work.  Not that we are engaged they are telling us that we can no longer work at the company!  I cant believe it.  There is nothing in the policy manual against office relationships or marriage.  It came out of nowhere and now on top of planning a wedding I need to look for a new job.

double and triple check that there's nothing in your contract or the manuals. if there isn't, hire a lawyer.

Yep. Ask them to show you where it says that you both can't work there if you're married. I've heard of that before, but it's usually only when one spouse is in a management position, or could potentially be in a management position.

We work for a rather large life insurance company, but my husband and I work for the same company.

@Woodsy thats crazy!!! FI and I met at work and while we chose to keep our relationship private there were plenty of other very serious couples that were open about their relationship. Definetely check on that!!

What's on my mind: All the bows I have to tie on my favors when I get home, my back pain and the fact that FI wants to shopping for golf crap for like no reason a week before the wedding..lol whatev I guess

Thanks guys!  We were completely blindsided!  We dont even work in the same department.  It is ridiculous!  We have been nothing but professional the whole 2 years we have been dating in this office!

On a side note in reference to the comment about BC...I went off it a few months ago because I was feeling crappy and it seems that I should get my "friend" right around the time of our wedding, so trying to decide if I should go back on...sorry if this is TMI haha but its great to have people to relate to on this board!

My effing future in-laws. They are pissing me off so much and I'm annoyed at FI for not anticipating their BS. Please keep your psychological issues to yourself and stop zapping any joy we have experienced in our planning process from us!

I completely agree with the previous posts.  If there is nothing in company policy about relationships between co-workers (especially since I think you said you work in different departments), I would definitely hire a lawyer.  At the very least, you may not keep your job, but you may get a nice settlement to hold you over until you find your new job.  Good luck and keep us posted!

I had scheduled an appointment tomorrow with the florist in the store where my FI works. The manager was very nice on the phone and said come on in Friday afternoon. We both have off to do a lot of wedding stuff  - officiant, flowers, etc.

SO - I get a call a little while ago AFTER already telling her when my wedding was and her saying yes we are free that she said it is not possible for them to do it!!! WHY? Because it's the Friday before Mother's day. So what? You should have enough employees to handle a busy holiday weekend. I worked at that place for six years and my FI still works there! We wanted to use them because we get a 20% discount!!

I am frustrated with her! So then you never do any weddings the weekend of any holidays?!?!
