Interfaith Clergy

Another question...my fiance and I are having an interfaith marriage...Catholic/Jewish.  We are getting married in my church, and my pastor is open to having a rabbi to be there as well.  We are running into the issue of many rabbis already being booked on our date, and those that would be free, some have Bar Mitvahs that day (it is a 2 pm wedding).  The issues we are also running into as well are not only do we need a rabbi who is open to an interfaith marriage, but one who is ok with being the co provider, and one who is also fine with being in a church (the rabbi is able to do the old testament reading and a few prayers).  We have already contacted a few interfaith groups, but if anyone has any other suggestions, either a temple or smaller group around the eastern PA,NJ,DE,MD,southern NY , please let me know.  Thank you!

I wish I could help with finding someone for you! Did you ask the rabbis who can't do it, if they have any connections or suggestions for someone that can do it?

Also, what if you, without a rabbi, had someone do Jewish readings?

My FI and I are doing a self-uniting ceremony, so I'm picking out readings from all over, funny and heart touching, to have people read. He's athiest and I'm buddhist, so it works out for us. We'll have a buddhist reading, a funny reading, a romantic reading, and a Christian reading (for our families).

We are all for having someone from my fiance's side do the readings, and we would love it actually. According to one of the rabbi's we spoke to, since it is an interfaith ceremony and not fully one side or the other, we can have a member of the family do the prayer, and my priest can sign the ketubah. But for his bubby, we would like to have a rabbi present for some of the ceremony, if possible.  None of the rabbis have known of anyone free, and those who they have referred us to have been booked.  :-/

I'm assuming the bubby, is a grandmom or something? Would she be honored to do the prayer? What about a rabbi-in-training or someone equally important?

Sorry, yes, bubby is grandmom.  I asked my fiance about her doing a blessing, as I think that would be wonderful...we have that in the back of our minds.

    Thanks!

Interfaith Clergy Network.  Rabbi Berris and Father Maione.  We are getting married in November and they are awesome to work with so far.  We had friends who had them officiate at their weddings in the past and the ceremony is very meaningful and touching.
