GM is MIA a month before the wedding!

What do we do with a GM who has seemingly disappeared off the face of the planet? It's my fiance's friend from high school who lives in a different state from us and I've never met before. The last time he and my fiance talked was approximately 3 weeks ago when my fiance called to remind him to get measured for his tux. My fiance thinks that money might be an issue, which is fine, we're willing to help, but now the GM won't return phone calls or emails. Our wedding is less than a month away, so we have to order the tuxes, preferably like two weeks ago.

Re: GM is MIA a month before the wedding!

  • When we ordered tuxes, the deadline was two weeks out, and each guy did their ordering separately. I don't see why there's such a rush, or why his order is holding up everyone else's.

I'd have your FI send him another message asking how he is and letting him know you're willing to pitch in to cover his costs, then let it go. Getting the tux and showing up is his one and only responsibility he has; back off and leave him to it.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Do they havea mutual friend that your FI can call and see if he or she knows what is going on with him?

  • Now, wait a second, I haven't done anything. I'm anxious, not impulsive. I'm taking my cues from my fiance who thinks that the GM is avoiding him. Our tux place won't order the tuxes until everyone's measurements are in and our deadline was May 15. It looks like you guys are from bigger cities than I'm from. It probably takes longer to get things here.

Mutual friends were the next step. They have seen the GM online gaming and there was nothing out of the ordinary going on. We're afraid that he wants to drop out of the wedding without telling us. He hasn't booked a hotel room either and our block closed 3 days ago.

I don't know, maybe we do just need to wait it out. It's hard to see my fiance being treated this way and if the GM does show, it's going to be hard to act like I'm happy to meet him.

That makes 0 sense. They rent a tux, not buy it. There is absolutely no reason for them to hold off waiting for one person. Call the tux place and tell them to put the order in today, and that this other GM may or may not be added on later. If they refuse, find another tux place. That's absurd.

H and his best man ordered their tuxes from Jos A Bank, at two different locations, at different times. This was not a big deal to the store, which simply kept a record of H's chosen style and accessories so that his best man would know what to get when he went in for measurements. I agree with the above, go someplace else.
