XP: Proposal Argument Ideas

So I have to write a Proposal Argument paper saying "We should/should not do X". We have to also propose a solution to said problem. But I cannot think of what to write about. I'm already doing a group project that is the same kind of paper/presentation, & that's over animal testing. So whenever I try to think of an idea for this paper, all I can think of is animal testing lol. But obviously it needs to be something else.

I figured you ladies would have some good ideas, with similar perspective to my own. So please, let the ideas flow! I need major help haha. This paper is my final paper of the semester, and it's actually my final for the class. So yeah...help, please! lol

I had a similar situation my first semester of college.  I had to write a persuasive paper and a persuasive speech (final paper in one class, final speech in the other) at the same time.  I asked the speech professor if he was OK with me using the same topic I was already using for the paper, so I didn't have to do another round of research.  HIs repsonse?  "That sounds like a great idea.  Work smarter, not harder."

Ask this professor if they would be OK with you using the same topic from your group project if that's the topic you really want to use.

The only problem with that is that our group project is a paper & a powerpoint presentation (it's for the same class). So I can't turn in the same (or basically the same) paper twice, for two "different" grades. I'm 100% positve that he'd not allow that. If the group project was just a powerpoint, then heck yeah I'd do my personal paper over the same subject. But it's not. So I have to come up with something else.

I've done that before though. When I took Intro to Psych while I was still in high school (concurrent), I turned in a paper for that & my AP English class, because my English teacher said I could. I wish that was the case here haha. Less work for me.

My freshmen year I wrote a proposal paper rising up against the inhumane treatment of goldfish. I brought in a fish and everything as a "teaching aid", totally got an A.

I was trying to figure out why a couple would argue during a proposal...

I tend to go for things that aren't too controversal or popular topics.  I don't want someone to read my paper about XYZ after they've just read the best paper ever on the same topic.

open vs closed adoptions (had a debate about this in undergrad)
    free speech in schools
    red light cameras
alternative certification for teachers (I'm writing a paper on this.  2 pages down, 6-8 to go!)

Seriously, you can make a case for the goldfish thing.

Another one I did was on how Pez-Dispensers should be banned because the idea of breaking somethings neck and eating what comes out of it could cause little children to become mass murders.

I like the red light camera idea.  At the wedding I attended on Sunday we were talking about cameras on Long Island that count the number of seconds that a car is at a red light before they turn right.  If you don't wait a minimum of 3 seconds, you get a ticket.  These cameras apparently don't do a lot to curb behavior and the camera companies make a mint off of them.  Someone at the table was saying that there are lobbyists for these camera companies that are influencing government to have them.  I think it would be interesting to look into if I needed to do a paper like this.

I wrote an essay arguing for polygamous marriage (although I don't advocate polygamy). I just thought it would be interesting to look at from another perspective & my teacher loved the paper.

Wait, really? How did you have research to back that up? I'm genuinely curious, because the leap in logic seems pretty far for this one, to me.
