October 2013 Weddings

Hi, I am new!

Screen Name: harpster2007
Age: 23
Significant Other's Age: 23
What You Do: Bank Examiner
What SO Does: Electrical Engineer
State of Relationship: Engaged
How Long You've Been Together: 4 years
How You Met: Marching band in college
Wedding Date (if you're engaged/married): 10/19/2013
Real Babies: None
Fur Babies: My kitten Ella...FI wants a puppy too though :)
Loves: Music (I play harp), my fiance, all fur babies, really good coffee
Hates: Bugs, mornings, weak coffee
Pet Peeves: Most of my pet peeves revolve around other people's driving habits...
Hobbies/Activities: Music, reading, baking, running to try and work off the damage done by the baking
Favorite Thing About Your SO: His love and kindness. I also love how smart he is!
Least Favorite Thing About Your SO: His tendency to be a little absent minded and forget things.
Describe Your Personality: Organized but easy going
Snark Level (1 [low snark] - 10 [high snark]): 6
I've Been On TK Since: we got engaged end of September
How You Came to Be On TK: for all of the planning help, checklists, etc
How I like my potatoes: In every way...but a classic baked potato is always good
Favorite book/author: It's too hard to choose! Recently I've been reading all of the Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris, but I think the book that has been the most inspiring to me was The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch.
Tell Us Something Interesting About Yourself: Usually I use that I play harp for my interesting fact, but I've already said that....but the thing that most people find interesting in Texas is that I call soda "pop". My FI makes fun of me for it all the time, but I'm from the midwest! And at home, it's pop!

Re: Hi, I am new!

  • Welcome to the board!
It is pop to me as well (lived in MI for my entire life) so I am with you on that one!

  • Its soda where I live. However, I am one of the only ones around here that call a bubbler a water fountain. My father grew up in IL and it stuck with me.

  • Soda here - and definitely a bubbler! Stina I think bubbler is mostly just a Milwaukee thing - I thought most of the state said water fountain, though I could be wrong.

    Welcome Harpster!

WTF is a bubbler?  And a water fountain dispenses water from a spout in an arc angle.  We all know that.

    It's soda and soda machines.

Nope, its the whole state I believe. I am just odd due to my father being from IL.

  • Kitten pictures are required ASAP. And hooray for another marching band nerd on the boards. :) What did you/your SO play? (or were you in guard? Props to the guard. So many skills there.) Welcome to the boards :)

When I travel I enjoy askign people where the bubbler is because of the reactions I get - the majority of people haven't heard of it before!
