  Wanting to send announcements to receive gifts is extremely "gift-grabby." I understand wanting to notify distant friends and family, but it's really only appropriate to announce your marriage after you're married. If you send it before, it has the potential to look gift-grabby and like you're saying "Just so you know, we're getting married soon, but you're not invited."

  Ditto CallaLily. Why on earth would you send an invitation or announcement for the specific purpose of getting gifts and money?  Oy.  Send announcements AFTER you are married. 

  What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  I feel people are taking it wrongly.. Like I stated I don't care if they send money or whatever because they're not invited due to budget and firecode, and I barely know the people. 

  But our parents said to send them out with invites so they can have something and they would send us something, this is all my parents and i'm just wondering the ettiquite like when I should send them and how to word them.

  I see what you're saying, but I still think it would look a little odd to announce your marriage before you're married. You could have the announcements ready to go before your wedding and then send them out a few days after you get married. That way your guests will receive the announcements when you're already married. They'll still have the option to send gifts if they would like, but they won't be reading an announcement for something that is about to happen instead of something that did happen.

  They're wrong. Instead, do as PP said and mail the announcements once you've tied the knot.
