Speaking of Programs....

So I saw Soon2Bsand's post about programs -- and I thought about mine too..

In our ceremony I do not plan to have a bunch readings and such. My idea would be:

1. Mom walks in in ( His grandmother is the role of his mothe rbut she isnt walking in)
2. Minister
3. Groom
4. Bridal party
5. flower girl
6. ME

Welcome/ be seated by the pastor...

The Pastor will say a couple words from her script..

We do the sand ceremony or exchange rings, whichever comes first
Vows - I do--- You do
Now I pronounce you Hubby and Wifey
Jump the broom

Is that not enough stuff? Do we need to have a bunch of readings and such? I know I can do whatever I want, but I want our opinion. I am a Christian but, number one I don't have someone to do those readings and number two I don't think I want to stand there while these readings are going on...

So I was thinking of making the program with the bridal party listed and then on the one side have the Nikki Giovanni poem on the other side.

Will that be too quick? I need some help... I don't want it to drag on but I don't want it to just be 10 minutes?

Help me!

Re: Speaking of Programs....

  • Here's what I came up with... I have to get Pastor to approve it though:

    Presentation of Bride
Definition of Marriage & Declaration of Intent
    Opening Prayer
    Exchange of Vows
    Exchange of Rings
Vocal Selection by Preston Wilson "The One He Kept For Me"
Ceremony of Unity The Salt Covenant
    Declaration of Marriage
    Holy Communion
Presentation of Mr. & Mrs. Gabriel Sanderfur
    Jumping of the Broom
    Recessional "Yahweh"

    Here's what it looks like:

  • K,
There are definitely some people who don't want readings and such. Discuss it with your officiant. You make the wedding that you want!! And if it's 10 minutes, that's cool too. Then you can get onto the business of being the MRS.

[QUOTE]I've never been to a wedding that had readings and songs, so I don't really know how it flows. If you do want a song or reading, you could do it during the sand ceremony so that you and FI are doing something rather than standing there staring at each other.

This. I've been to a wedding where the soloist sang while they lit the unity candle and it flowed perfectly. I've also been to a wedding when the soloist sang and the bride and groom were looking at each other and speaking softly.

This.. it really depends on what you want to happen on your day. If you don't want readings and songs. then you don't have to have it!.. Believe me.. your Bridal Party will thank you the shorter the ceremony is.. standing on your feet with heels for a long time is some stuff..lol
