Louisiana-New Orleans

NWR~ Hotels

Hey Ladies,
We were thinking of heading to New Orleans for my birthday. Weekend of January 21-23. I was wondering what hotels you would recommend. Our budget would be anywhere from $100- $200/night 1-2 nights havn't decided. We will be driving from Houston. Something close to action (french quarter, bourbon street, or any other recs are welcome)

Also any thing you recommend off the beaten path? We have been before to the major touristy places and don't mind if we go back to some but would like some new ideas.

TIA!

On orbitz the bourbon Orleans has rooms for that day for $159, some other places like the royal sonesta and hotel monteleone are a little bit more than $200. But the room only has one king bed, on the hotel's website it is more for two bed rooms.

We stayed in the Bourbon Orleans for my sister's bachelorette party like 6-7 of us in one room, granted we slept on floors and stuff, it was just for one night and when you are drunk you will sleep anywhere! But, it was really nice and there is a cool bar downstairs that exits to bourbon st,

The Hotel Monteleone has a 2 bed room for $214 on hotels.com

Thank you! It's always nice to get perspective from a local. I will check out the hotels now.
I agree with sleeping anywhere when you are drunk!

Before we moved here, we always stayed at Hampton Inn on Carondelet St.  It's not far from Bourbon, and they have a pretty good complimentary breakfast.

You might want to check the Royal St Charles.  They are on Canal St, very close to Bourbon St.  The street car stops there and that also makes it convenient.  Their rates are usually lower than most of FQ hotels - in addition they often offer free parking.  Parking is almost always an additional $28 - $30 a night so be sure to take that into account when price shopping.
