Reception Venue

My fiance and I are looking for a unique reception venue near downtown OKC or nearby areas (Paseo, Heritage Hills, Bricktown...etc).  We are having a hard time finding something that is unique and reasonable in cost. Our ideal venue would be a large loft, with a view, in downtown OKC somewhere untypical- haha but none of those seem to exist. Does anyone know of any interesting, untypical venues (for 175 - 225 guests)?

Places we've looked into already:

*OKC Museum of Art - Roof Top (is anyone doing this?  Sounds fabulous!)
*Heritage Museum - Expensive but beautiful
*Farmers Market - Too big for just a reception and kind of out of budget
*Artspace at Untitled - Amazing but way too expensive
*Petroleum Club - Not our style but nice
*Skirvin - Does anyone have any info on this?  Good or bad
*History Center - Looking at this Saturday!

Also, the church we are looking at is near North Classen and 23rd!  We'd like a venue close by there.

We need help!!!

My sister had her reception at the History Center last year and it was beautiful.  I am getting married at Gaylord-Pickens museum; yes it is expensive but the facility cost is considered a donation and it tax deductible. Have you looked at Chesapeake Boat House?

We're excited to view the HIstory Center Saturday.  We also made an appointment with the Skirvin too!!

I absolutely LOVED the Heritage Museum.  We figured out the savings with our CPA on the tax deduction and decided it wouldn't be much savings for us! :(  If I could have it anywhere, that would be the place.  You are lucky!!!  You are getting married there and also having your reception there?

We had our reception at Rocky's Bricktown.  We loved it because it wasn't your normal hotel wedding and was in bricktown.  It is has a lot of space, but not sure how many it can hold. www.rockysbricktown dot com

Here's my response on ones I know about that you asked about and a few others:*Farmers Market - Too big for just a reception and kind of out of budget - cool cool space, but I agree it is large and we also weren't too thrilled with the surrounding area.
*Skirvin - I believe that when you have an event there the price is all based around the catering - for a certain room/guest list size, you have to spend a certain amount on the catering.  Not sure though.
Two others to consider: we had our reception at the Harn Homestead- you can see the capitol from the grounds, which is cool.  It is large though, and was fairly pricey - we really really wanted it and cut corners elsewhere.
Another unique place is the Overholser Mansion - it is right within Heritage Hills, and the price is very good - it is a smaller venue, with indoor-outdoor space (www.overholsermansion.org.)
    Good luck!

If you are not serving alcohol, you can have the reception at the State Capitol.  My sister got married at the Capitol, a beautiful site, but then had reception at History Center so that beer and wine could be served. The Capitol is free to rent space, and they have tables and chairs that you can rent LOW cost as well.

We are having our reception in private rooms at the Riverwind Casino.  I know it is a little out of downtown, but it is like renting out your own lounge.  The price is great and includes free water and cokes (soda's) for everyone.  It is just something a little different!

I got married at the Capitol last month and it was beautiful and the pictures are amazing.  The only thing that we paid for was the chairs and they are $2.00 each.   For our reception, we rented out the second story of Bricktown Brewery and we loved it.  It was really laid back but still had a lot of charm.
