favorite fall comfort foods

My caterer gave me a menu list about 20 pages long, and then stated if its not on the menu, he can make it. Thanks for narrowing it down for me! ;-)

So.. I ask you.. What is your favorite fall comfort food that you would enjoy being served at a wedding?

appetizers, salads, entrees wanted!

Re: favorite fall comfort foods

  • Mac & Cheese for sure!
  • Cassoulet.

Haha... I don't know.  We had beef burgundy, atlantic salmon on polenta and gnocchi with a goat cheese and spinach sauce.
  • Who was it that had the little tiny shots of tomato soup with mini grilled cheese bites? I want those.

  • These all sound delicious. Also, this might not be very wedding-y, but I love corn chowder and think it's very fall-ish. Or roasted corn anything (salad, relish, etc.). A good roasted cut of beef too, like prime rib.

There's also corn maque choux, corn sautedd in BACON GREASE. Yup, I find a way to add pork fat to nearly everything I eat.

  • Funny that Mery mentioned butternut squash anything and risotto one after another...I was going to suggest butternut squash risotto.

One of our entrees was a thick-cut pork chop stuffed with apple-cornbread stuffing and finished with an apple cider sauce. Sounds like fall to me!

I also love sweet potatoes in fall: in casseroles, mashed, pie, even cheesecake.
  • Yess! Anna how could I forget? Apparently I mixed you up with mocha somehow.  Anyway I want those.  Also sweet potato fries! Dipped in honey!

Ooh and at BIL's wedding in October the main course was some kind of pork steak with some kind of apple jelly (only clearly it was more fancy than that, I just dont' remember the details), and it was diviiiiine.
