Ugghhh Workout Clothes!

I'm so annoyed!  I did bootcamp this morning and I spent so much time pulling UP my pants and DOWN my shirt!

Does anyone have any recommendations for what to wear when you're going to be doing kickboxing/bootcamp?  I usually wear capris (not tight leggings but looser around the knee area) and a t-shirt with a sports bra.  However, I also have some curves in my hip area so my shirts tend to ride up lol.  I'm ridiculously small on top with big hips and I can't find any kind of shirt that will stay down!  I even have a longer sports bra that I pull down to my hips, but it still rides up!  So frustrating.

Re: Ugghhh Workout Clothes!

  • I'm built the same way - I use foldover yoga pants from old navy - they seem to stay pretty in place for me (though I found I had to buy a size down to ensure they were tight enough not to fall down or move too much). I just wear any t-shirt i've got laying around so I guess that's not much help.

    Goodluck!

  • I hate the riding up shirt issue.  I have it too.  I'm a big fan of the C9 by Champion line at Target.  I buy their singlets (loose running tank tops) like they're going out of style because they're pretty much the only ones that don't ride up.  The key is for them to be loose.  The tight ones move with you, so they go right up.

  • I second the Champion line at Target.  I've tried to buy more expensive workout pants thinking that they'll last longer, but all of them are super low-rise and I end up spinning with one hand on my pants at all times.  Super annoying!  Plus, I realized that I wasn't going through the Target ones because they didn't wear right - I went through them because a) I wash them a ton, and b) I was dropping sizes.  Not a bad problem to have!
  • I'm not sure about shirt--id just say aim for longer ones...but you can get higher rise pants and actually make sure you don't buy pants that are advertised as "yoga" and have no ties--I learned this the hard way! They aren't terrible per say, but they really are designed for yoga, not bouncing up and down on the treadmill or elliptical as I spend most of my time pulling those up! Always get ties and aim for medium rise pants, NO yoga unless you're doing yoga :)
  • my entire work out wardrobe is Lululemon.. They're tanks don't budge and are longer so even if you're doing a lot of jumping and reaching, they still won't show tummy.

Unfortunately the style for pants/shorts right now is lower rise.. bleh. So that's what they make. if you get a nice fitting pair of capris like these:

you won't be doing any pulling up

  • Looooong, lose, light t-shirts (usually fiances haha) and basketball shorts work best for me. They're comfortable, breathable, and stay in their damn place!

  • I do yoga capris on bottom. This may sound silly, but maternity tank tops from target work really well. They are just like any other tank but made longer so that they would eventually stretch over a pregnant belly. I found this out from using my leftover ones and it's pretty much all I use for the gym now.
  • For the bottoms I wear tight capris but with looser shorts over them. They stay in place well. I agree with PP about wearing a loose tank top.
