Shoe Dilemma

Today after work I went to check out my dress.  It arrived and I was having panic attacks that if I didn't see it I would go in for my first fitting only to find that they ordered the wrong dress.  Luckily that wasn't an issue.  The dress is perfect.

The problem came afterwards when I took a stroll through the shoe department.  I found a pair of shoes that I absolutely love the problem is they are $400.  I've never spent that much on a pair of shoes in my entire life.  Not sure if I'm trying to talkk myself into buying them or not.

Re: Shoe Dilemma

  • Those are cute!! I've never spent that much on shoes either, If you can afford them and love them I say go for it, if it's gonna be hard to budget for them I would try searching other stores or online for a pair that's kind of like them!

  • Will you honestly wear them ever again? If you have clothes that would look good with a pair of blue shoes then I say sure, why not. The cost is alarming though, $400 is the price of my cake.
  • They are definitely unique, but you can try to look for something similar if the price seems exhorbitant.  I don't even want to talk about how much mine cost, but there are plenty that cost more than mine.  That said, your wedding is one day, but it's a big one in the grand scheme of things.
  • I personally would not shell out that $, but some things to consider: Did you stay under budget on any of your other purchases (dress, veil, etc)?  If so, you may be able to justify the cost to yourself.  Or, are you willing to make a cut elsewhere such as in flowers, cake, appetizers, etc?

And, if you are able to find $ elsewhere in your budget, consider if you'll ever wear them again.  If not, I say don't buy them.  There are so many cute shoes for under $100, just do your research & you'll find a pair you like.

  • Personally, I'd start stalking Zappos, DSW, etc., to find a similar pair at a lesser cost. If you find that you really stop thinking about the original pair and you're not finding anything else that appeals to you, then I'd think about splurging. I found an amazing pair of purple shoes (exactly what I wanted) on Zappos for like $50!
  • I have been checking out DSW and Zappos just haven't yet found what I want.  I know the spring/summer shoes are just coming out now so maybe I just need to be patient.   I do have money for apparrel to spend I would definitely wear these shoes at more than just the wedding.

I tried on a couple of other pairs as well they just weren't as comfortable.

  • I agree with PPs that I personally couldn't spend that $$$ on shoes, but with that said if you can afford to and wear them again (like you said you will be able to) and you can't find another pair you like as much, get them!

  • I have been thinking of making shoes at like milk and honey which are custom and justifying the $200-300. I keeping trying to find shoes but im also need real low heel due to a bad back and have a larger foot. You could try that or googling the shoe name to see if cheaper anywhere else.
