Budget Wedding

Hey there I just started looking around for locations that will do the ceremony and reception.  I am looking to get married June 2012, which gives me plenty of time to plan and hopefully shop around for the best prices.  I am on a budget and luckily i only have about 60 guests.  Does anyone have any ideas for places I can check out?

Is there an overall amount you want to spend for the reception or a price per head you want to stay under? Any particular geographic area you want to stay within?

The College Club of Boston- very good price overall for the Boston proper area and they can easily fit 60 people (we had 75). PIB.

We are having our reception at the Lyceum in Salem, MA. It's the 2nd floor of a restaurant and would comfortably fit 60 guests (unfortunately not handicapped accessible). It has a rustic/vintage feel to it with the exposed brick/beams, fire places, etc that we were looking for. They have very reasonable prices too!

WOW malmeida1979!  I got confused for a brief moment when I started reading your post because I'm looking to have a budget wedding in June 2012 for 50-60 people!  Haha!  Where are you located?  I'm looking mainly in Central Mass, but I'd be willing to have the wedding somewhere within an hour or so of Worcester.  Good luck on your planning!! :)

I would look for places that include things.

I know Spinellis on Rt 1 includes alot.  Hawthorne Hotel in Salem does as well.

Also, alot of places have a discounted rate for Sundays and Fridays.  Even better deals for afternoon weddings.

You're probably more realistic than I am... my budget is $5000-$7000 total, but I don't actually know if I can do it.. that's just the max I would LIKE to spend!  So at least giving myself almost 2 years to plan should help me figure out some ways to cut costs :)

Here are the places I'm considering so far, most of them are in Central Mass so not sure if you'd go out there or not, but it can't hurt to share them!  The first two are closer to Boston.

Note that I want an outdoor ceremony somewhere pretty and don't really like the look of hotel banquet rooms or anything, so most of these have a bit of a earthy, rustic feel to them.

Codman Estate - Lincoln MA  (requires outside caterer)
Warren Conference Center & Inn - Ashland, MA (haven't gotten prices from them yet)
Salem Cross Inn - West Brookfield, MA
    Chocksett Inn - Sterling, MA
Spencer Country Inn - Spencer, MA
Hartmans Herb Farm - Barre, MA

Also, don't necessarily pigeon hole yourself in traditional wedding places.  I photographed one wedding where they got the building for free, it was a government building that was actually lovely inside.    You can always get caterers who will bring food in.

To make your flower budget more reasonable look into silk flowers.  For your own bouquet do it in real flowers, but I have seen so many more centerpieces and bridal party flowers done in silk, and they still looked really good.  Some of these were at budget weddings, and others at really high end ones.

OMG girls thank you so much for all the info =) I have to say that $10K for a budget seems like a lot, but the more I meet with catering company's and look at venue locations the cost is at $7K which doesnt even include honeymoon, dress, flowers, etc..!!

Im looking for venues outside of boston, for example dedham, canton, brockton, easton, norton, etc.. most of my family is from that area and i was hoping to keep it local so it could cut expenses and i wouldnt have to get limo's or prepare hotels etc...

its a lot of planning and thank god we have awhile to get it all planned out =) lol
