B&M Monday

I have a flame for Chelsea's bride this weekend.  Outdoor wedding in August?  Chelsea nearly had a heat stroke!

Otherwise I got nothin',

Except I miss and love Wendi.

Re: B&M Monday

  • Yuck! It was sooo hot yesterday, too! I have a lot of B&M's this morning:

    1. I recorded the closing ceremonies last night but for some reason it cut off right as the fun music stuff started, so I didn't get to see the Spice Girls. :(

    2. My back was killing me last night so I had the bright idea to take a pain pill and then proceeded to feel incredibly sick and dizzy and nauseas which means I still feel crappy this morning.

    3. Some of my "friends" really irritated me in reference to my shower yesterday and some of their lame last-minute excuses for not showing up...especially my aunt. I know she had other stuff that came up (because she "read the time wrong") but she was still going to try to come late and said she would call me and let me know. I never heard a word from her. Bitter, party of one. I know it's silly but I am such a crankypants this morning. : /

I usually try to be positive but this is a B&M for the ages. Warning: Long.

We drove down to College Station Thursday evening for my cousin's graduation and spent a total of 24 hours there before driving home to start the long move.
We took a few small things over Friday night and realized the water wasn't turned on. When we get back home to check online, we realize that I didn't go 100% through the order process, and our water wasn't even scheduled to be turned on. This is completely my fault. Um also did you know it takes one week's notice to get your water turned on? So our lease is up Sunday, and we aren't scheduled to get water until the next Friday. So we call the emergency utility phone line and email, and we still haven't heard from them.
The next morning we go to pick up the Uhaul, and standing at the end of the line is our neighbor that we share an elevator with EVERY morning. Which means we will be sharing an elevator during our move.
We get the Uhaul back home and realize that, oh, it's not just the two of us moving. It's FIVE people and FIVE moving trucks on the street, and three of us share the same elevator! I have never seen so many moving trucks in the street EVER.
Well we all find a way to coexist, and use the stairs (BARF) as necessary, and we're all packed up and ready to go, and we start to get on the road to go to the new house (after everyone has peed obviously since we can't use the potty at the new house). I'm around the corner and I get a phone call from H... 'The Uhaul is dead.' So I turn around and bring him jumper cables, and my uncle (who was helping us move) pulls his car around to jump him. I'm almost at the new house and I get another phone call from H 'Your uncle switched the cables and everything burst into flames. We have to go buy more cables.'
We have to get the Uhaul back by a certain time or we get charged another day, but I've decided at this point they owe us for giving us a truck with a dead battery.
I get to the new house and besides knowing the code, I have NO idea how to work the alarm. So it starts going off VERY loud, and I'm the only one there. I walk out to the alley to get away from the noise and just sit against the fence and start crying (this would be the low point of my weekend).
Finally H and my parents show up and we disable the alarm, and everything actually goes pretty smooth after that.

But we still have no water and are staying at MIL's house all the way up in Frisco, which is about a 45 min drive from work. But she has been great, waking up early to make us breakfast, so we're just making the best of it at this point.
Our couch and internet boxes are being delivered today, so H has to go sit at the house and pee outside with the dog while unpacking.
I'm going to try and call the utility company again today,  but as of today, we have electricity and wifi, but are still homeless.

ETA: Oh and while holding a microwave I tripped backwards over a broom and into the door handle on the fridge with the added weight of an ancient microwave. Holy back bruise.
And H wasn't even in the apartment to rescue me.

  • Cwagg- That's terrible! I hope that things start working better :( I did the same thing with the water and electricity. I moved in my friends townhome while he moved out of state and I forgot to turn the water and electricity early in July. My place was 98 degrees for a few days ugh.

My B&M is that I'm back to reality and work. The honeymoon was a paradise and so difficult to leave. Now I need to start working on reviews!

  • EJ- You live in Arlington right?

If you have DIsh vs. Cable you probably lost service because of the rain...we also lost electricity a couple of times.

I am going to have to send the apartment corporate a certified letter. I'm almost beyond livid.

  • Wow, Carrie...that sounds awful! Alright, alright, you've made me realize that I don't really have anything to B&M about. At least I was having a good time, eating great food, and opening presents yesterday! I also had a nice place to tinkle so, no complaints there! Haha. Sorry you had to go through that. : /

Crash, no I live in Fort Worth. My parents live in Arlington. We have cable and I don't think it ever went out. I think they may have just split the closing ceremonies into two broadcasts (the first one was something like "Reliving the Gold" and it went over a lot of the US and British winners). I think FI only recorded that first one which was why I didn't get to see the rest of it.  :( What's wrong with your apartment though? Is this the one that you were trying to get the deposit back from but they said you owed them money still (or did I make that up)?

  • My B&M today is that H found out he didn't get the job that he applied for and really, really wanted.  He was so excited about this opportunity and he thought everything went extremely well at the interview.  He got a generic e-mail today that they had decided to pursue other candidates.  I feel badly for him. :(

Not much else going on here -- hope everyone has a good Monday!

  • I know it's late but I have some B&M lol.
1-Last night one of my gal pals texted me to tell me she needed a plus 1 because she has a new boyfriend.  I had told my friends months ago that unless there's a ring on their finger or they've been together almost a year, that's a no.  We are sticking to close family and friends.  I got so mad.  I figured out a polite way to tell her no, and she said it was just a way of telling me she has a bf now......thanks.
2-My FI and I have been long distance for 3+ years.  He is FINALLY moving to Dallas on Saturday.  His parents backed out of helping so we had to find a way to get rid of his furniture.  He decided to find a charity or somehting TODAY.....TODAY.  Not that I didn't mention it, you know, a month ago!  UGH!
3-During this beautiful texting of the furniture donation pick up, FI decides to tell me his mom emailed him to say that one of his cousins is now married and the girl that was on the invitation is her AND his stepdad's sister lives closer so she needs to be invited, not just get an announcement....maybe I should tell you my invitations were going out TODAY.  I brought up the fact that why is this cousin coming to the wedding when 1-he didn't know they were getting married and 2-we weren't invited.  I also told him that his step aunt will be added to the rsvp-no list.
4-The Post Office LOST some of my envelopes that I had sent out to the calligrapher.  She sent them back 2 weeks ago and they never showed up so she had to FedEx new ones to me.
Is it just me or once the 2 month mark everything goes awry?

    Good things-
    Invitations are out
FI is moving here this week
We have a gorgwous apartment that I can't wait to move into in October!
School starts on Friday, I need to see my co-workers and kids
