Honeymoon Discussions

This is a silly question.

What kind of shoes (and how many) did you bring to wear on a cruise? Are high heals ok? Or are wedges better?

ETA: We will be going to the Caribbean/ Bahamas.

Re: This is a silly question.

  • I am going on a cruise for my honeymoon. I plan on bringing a pair of black high heels, that will look nice for formal night. I am wearing a pair of sneakers there and back, and other than that I'm bringing a couple pairs of flip flops.

It really all depends on how dressed up you want to get on board.  Some cruise lines have a formal night (or two) for their main dining room.  Other than that, you can pretty much wear whatever you want to.  Just make sure you have some comfortable shoes for walking or if you do any excursions that would require them.
We went on a cruise last spring and I think I brought a pair of sneakers, two pairs of flip flops and one pair of heels (but it might have been two).  We were on a Norwegian ship and they don't have the formal nights, so limiting heels was easier.
  • One pair of sneakers, one pair of flip flops and one pair of dress shoes for formal night. No need to over pack. My standard response to anyone going on a trip is to THINK first about what you will be doing excursion wise THEN pack.
  • You'll need a good pair of comfortable walking shoes, formal type shoe for the captain's dinner at the very least. Agree with pp, depends on the excursion too. Flip flops to walk around the boat on too.

Thank you ladies. I figured sneakers, flipflops and dress shoes would be enough. I don't know why 3 pairs of shoes seemed like a lot to me but it did. I do most of my walking in sandals and flats when we travel but on occasion bring sneakers.

  • for dinner etc...a pair of heels and a pair of flats. for excursions tht don't require closed toe shoes just flip flops.

  • I've never used sneakers on a cruise until our most recent one when we went ziplining. We had to hike a little bit, and sandals weren't allowed while ziplining.

I usually bring mostly flip flops and heels (for my dresses at dinner) and a pair of sneakers. I brought a pair of wedges last time and never wore them.

I always bring too many shoes.

You need to wear something to board in & that may be a function of when & wear.  We have cruised out of NYC in winter & I have worn boots.  DH prefers active excursions so I need sneakers.  Water shoes are a must.  Beachy / pool flip flops are nice to have.  You need heels to wear on formal night & then something cute for your other dinner outfits.

Thank you all for responding. It has been very helpful and makes me realise I need to pick out my shoes wisely.
