Low Budget Photographer Needed

Hi. I've heard that photography students are a great resource when hiring a photographer for low budget weddings. (Or mine? VERY low budget.) Also figured I could search newly professional photographers assuming their fees will be less.

Anyone have experience doing this? Or know of a low cost photographer that does great work?

I figure that these pictures will be around FOREVER and treasured the most so I don't want to make any mistakes when hiring our photographer.

Any suggestions will be appreciated! Thanks!

How low is "low"? Elisabeth Ann Photgraphy will do all day for 1300....she is AMAZING. But if you just google low cost photography, MN, you will get a few...you could also search theknot. The lowest I've seen is about 900 I think. You could always try craigslist....but I'm not sure if you want to trust that route if you want really good photographers. Unfortunately you can really tell the difference between a $700 photographer and a $1800 photographer so I guess it depends how much the pictures mean to you...

We used a friend of mine who is new to the business and were so glad that we did! She was able to offer us a killer deal-- e-pics and wedding for $500! Our pictures were lovely and she was wonderful to work with. If you can find someone that you can trust and who can show you great examples of their work, go for it! Price does not always equal quality. Our wedding photos stack up to most of the others I've seen on here and we paid a fraction of what most people do.

My friend works out of Iowa and gave us a much lower rate due to our friendship, but she does come to MN to shoot if you are interested.
