Just have to share:
I'm a supervisor at a local library. Some days are quiet and mundane, while others are kind of insane. Today was an insane one...
This morning was quiet but this afternoon was another story.
Around 2:15 one of my clerks called me out to the desk saying "There's a lady out here who feels like she's going to faint." The lady had given blood earlier in the day, felt dizzy and wanted to sit down. I asked her if she was diabetic (no), had any health problems (no), needed to lay down (no), was hungry or thirsty (no). I brought her some water anyway and went to tell my boss what was going on.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw her slump. She didn't respond to me calling her name. As I called 911, she started vomiting. I caught most of it with the garbage can, but she was still unconscious. Breathing, sweating, but completely out of it. The paramedics came and she woke up. Her blood pressure was way low, and her heart beat was off. It took some convincing but she finally agreed to go to the ER.
I cleaned up the vomit. Then I cleaned up another mess in the public bathroom. I'm seriously trying to convince my boss to let the janitors come in during the day, but that's another story...
Then just before closing a hooker came in to argue about her fines. Seriously! Scantily clad, dirty looking, front tooth missing hooker. She insisted (repeatedly) that "Daddy, I mean my boyfriend" renewed her movies.
So that was my day at work. I came home to find FI with peeps, chocolate covered peeps and robin eggs as my reward for dealing with it all today.
Who says libraries are quiet, studious places?
