E-ring poll

I recently got my rings resized and now since they fit better, they're also harder to take off.  Last night while I was making dinner, I got to thinking, I wonder how often the girls on the board take off their e-ring (and/or wedding band).

I rarely ever take my ring off...  The only times I take it off is when putting on lotion or when cooking something that I need to use my hands.  Other than that, my e-ring is always on :-)  I feel naked with out it.

I pretty much keep it on except while putting product in my hair or lotion on. Otherwise, it stays. :)

So odd that you bring this up.  My BIL actually asked why I wasn't wearing my ering the other day.  Yes, my BIL is a nosy old woman.

I only wear one of my bands and I usually take that off when cooking or cleaning.  My fingers swell very easily and three rings at once is incredibly uncomfortable.  Before we were married though, I never took off my ering.  I really like the look of just one of my diamond bands.

Can I ask about this? Or was that a mistake? haha

Your set up sounds similar to mine (although I envy you having what sounds like 2 wedding bands).  My e-ring kind of comes off a lot, when I run, shower, cook meat, put on lotion and for bed.  As much I as love it, I also love the simplicity of a single thin diamond band (my wedding band; hopefully to be 2 bands in the future:O)

I take mine off when I'm showering, for bed, when I'm cooking, cleaning (unless I wear gloves). I take it off when I'm working out if I know I'll be lifting weights but if I"m out running I will usually just wear my band.

lol My BIL is just nosy and gossipy.  In the same conversation he tried to gossip about SIL wedding planning and I just wasn't interested.  Just weird.

You said you had the ering resized right?  When did you have them resize it (what time of day, durring the month)?  As I mentioned, my hands swell based on time of day, temperature, time of the month, etc.

The only reason I was able to get two bands was because it ended up being the same as what we had set aside for the one band.  I love Carson's fine jewelry sale.  Each of my bands was $250 and I want to say they are .5 cttw each and 14 k white.gold.

Ha, I wondered bc you said woman (and I usually connect BIL as bro-in-law). Lol.

I got my rings resized just 2 weeks ago.  I have been thinking about it since we were married 10/16/10, but everyone said I should wait until summer 2011 b/c with the weather it'd fit.  Anywho, end of August and it was still spinning like crazy.

My jeweler is  in my hometown, so when I went home for a wedding I went in on 9/2.  I actually went in the morning, but about 1 hour after a 12mile run.  My fingers didn't seem swollen at all and they took it down.  Now it fits comfortably and doesn't spin, but depending on weather/what activity I've been doing, it can be hard to get the e-ring off!

Wow, that's a great price!  Mine was something like $900; it's white gold, I have no idea on the diamond weight, but I even opted for the diamonds on only the front half of the band to make it cheaper and with hopes of getting a second band.

I generally take it off when I get home at night and put it back in the ring box.  It has been resized now, but was really big when I got it and it just wasn't comfortable.  It's better now, but I'm in tha habit. I've found I don't like to sleep with any jewelry at all ever, so I won't wear it to bed anyway.  I work out and shower in the morning, then slip it back on.

I only take mine off to shower. I should probably take it off more since I'm a teacher and therefore my hands are always getting messy but I'm still in the "AHHHHHH I'm engaged" stage so it stays on lol.

Sort of related, but do other people have white gold rings? The reason I ask is because my e-ring is starting to yellow or the rhodium or whatever is started to fade. I asked at the jeweler and they said they would have to send it out. This is normal right?
  • edited December 2011
It's normal aimers, have no fear!

I literally only take it off when I'm showering.  Even when I'm showering my left hand feels light without it.  Other than that it's on.  I feel like if I take if off I might forget where I put it or something.

The wearing is totally normal.  I've had my e-ring just over 2 years now and I've had it "redipped" twice.  The sending out though- I think that depends on the jeweler.

I got lucky with mine, I was able to go in the morning when they opened and they resized and redipped it for me in the store and it was ready for pick up that afternoon.  Definitely get it redipped!  It seriously seems like a brand new ring to me now and I can't stop looking at it :O)

I take mine off when I shower, cook and clean. I would leave it on when i cook, but my band is pretty intricate and I don't want to get anything in it.

aimers, it's totally normal and how often you'll have to get your ring redipped depends on your skin chemistry!

Thanks for all the info on the re-dipping! I think I'll probably take my e-ring in now, so I at least have my wedding band to wear.

I never knew how much my finger size changed throughout the day until I got my engagement ring.  Now that it's getting colder here it just keeps getting looser and looser.  Anyway, I take mine off when I shower, work with my hair, work with raw meat, and when I do the dishes or am cleaning with chemicals.  I am a nursing student right now, so I do not wear my rings to my clinical at the hospital or when I go to work because we aren't allowed to wear them and my ring would probably rip through gloves.  I am also exposed to all kinds of bacteria there too, so I'd prefer my ring to be safe at home.  I almost always wear my ring to bed unless it's feeling very loose or I want to lay in a position that makes it uncomfortable to wear my ring.

I take mine off pretty frequently (although I always put it back in the box!)  It's my FH's great grandmother's ring, so I don't want to risk anything messing it up.  I'm not even sure if I'll wear it on a daily basis after we get married.  I may just wear a band for everyday and the e-ring when I'm not going to risk getting it messed up.
