My FI is Russian, though he grew up in the States. We want the wedding theme to be Russian, if that makes any sense. We're having it in the winter to add to the theme, and our colours will be red, dark blue, and gold. Oddly enough, though, we're having a dry wedding. Anyone know of any Russian customs or traditions we can bring into the ceremony and reception?
So far:
*Having a cake designed to resemble some of the Russian architecture.
*Decorating the reception with nesting dolls and Faberge style eggs.
*Using candles that have similar scents found in Russia, such as different flowers and pine trees.
*I noticed on Google that a lot of Russian brides have dresses with a lot of pickup. Don't know how true that is, but I'm mimicking it.
*Instead of FI and I kissing every time guests take a drink, we're giving them bells.
Any more ideas?
