Matron of Honor

Anyone else think it sounds like Old Hag of Honor?

Anyone?

Well, it does make me think that instead of a bridesmaid dress they should get a muumuu. Probably because of the word "matronly."

Definitely makes me think of "matronly"... which makes me shudder a little knowing that I'll likely be asked to be my maid of honor's matron of honor. Will do the duty with honor, but I don't love the word matron. haha.

I agree... my sister is my matron of honor, but I keep calling her maid of honor.  Maton sounds old

I have been playing the part of the insistent but naive bride, and calling her maid of honor, which she appreciates.  I understand the historical significance, but seriously, I expect the "matron" of honor to make sure we get to bed at a reasonable hour and no boys in the dormitory after 11 pm!

My MOH used "Friend of Honor" when she got married because her Matron of Honor didn't like the word either.
