Travel Insurance?

Hello!

I'm getting married in September and considering a HM in the Caribbean/Mexico. The fact that it's hurricane season doesn't scare me much, but I believe getting trip insurance would be prudent. I was looking in the travel guard website, and wanted to make sure that I'm getting something that would cover HM cancellation due to hurricane. Their gold plan includes cancellation due to inclement weather. Is that what I need? Or are hurricanes not included in that and I need to make they are included elsewhere? I wouldn't want to book the insurance, only to learn later that it doesn't cover what I need.

For our November honeymoon to the Bahamas and Florida, I was more scared about winter weather flying out of Ohio than the hurricanes. We used Travel Guard and I did the same exact thing you're doing but I was scared that winter weather delays wouldn't be covered so I just called them. Their customer service has always been really nice. I just told them what situations I was worried about and they let me know which plans they offered that would cover those situations. I'd suggest giving them a call.

I would assume that hurricanes are inclement weather, but I would call them to make sure. I have been to the Caribbean many times, only once during hurricane season (it was a cruise) and yes, there was a hurricane. Because it was a ship, they could avoid the path, but it still wasn't much fun for a few days. Do they list a number? They will be able to tell you exactly what you need.
