False Lashes Tips

So last night I was lurking on the wedding beauty board and saw a thread re: false lashes.  I will be doing my own hair and makeup and just realized I probably should do lashes too for the sake of pictures.  I have never ever tried them - do you ladies have any recommended brands/techniques? I definitely am thinking the whole strip will be too much and that I want to add them individually, but any tips you guys have would be AWESOME!  TIA!

  • My best friend had the individual ones put on for her wedding.  You're not supposed to put mascara on them or it causes them to fall out.  There is one specific kind of mascara that you can put on them, but she didn't have any.
  • Kandee Johnson has some great how to videos for false lashes.  You should check that out.

  • i am doing a full strip. And, there are some great Youtube videos on how to do it.
I will say use the ones that are 100% sterilized human hair. Those are better all around.
And, you can use mascara with them and it doesn't have to be a certain type. People just tell you that to get more money out of you. I used to put them on my sister for Color Guard and we used mascara and they looked fine. Just make sure you clean them.
Also, get an eye lash curler to blend them together.

I am getting eyelashes extensions because they stay on for a few weeks and I don't want to worry about it. They can get a little pricey (but you can find a good groupon deal or beauty school discount)

I wear fake eyelashes when I dress up and go out, and I've worn them for years for dance performances and competitions (I even used to wear them to school sometimes in high school). I always use the strips because that's what I wore for dance. When I wore them to school no one could tell I had them on, but they would always tell me how good my lashes looked. I've never tried the individual lashes, but I have heard they look more natural. I always use mascara with mine. It helps to make it look like you only have one set of lashes (instead of looking like your lashes with fake ones on top, they look flush). As PPs said look at YouTube videos to see how to do it.

I agree with all this.  When I danced/did theatre I wore the strips with mascara on them.  My best advice would be to just take your time when you put them on and watch how much glue you use so you don't accidently glue your eye shut.  Really though, it's not has hard or scary as I thought it would be the first time I tried them.
