Gifts without a sender

We got a gift in the mail today, with a small note attached congradulating us on our wedding.....however the note does not indicate who sent the gift. Obviously I would like to send a thank you note to whom-ever it was from but without a sender that makes it kinda difficult. What should i do?

oh man, that is really tricky. Is there any way to contact the place it was purchased from and find out? If it was on your registry usually they should be able to look it up under these circumstances. Hope this helps!

You could narrow it down to who you haven't received gifts from yet or maybe ask around? Honestly, I am unsure.

We had a large guest list so while we received many gifts, not everyone opted to give us a gift, and we too had a gift with no name on it. It was a gift off the registry - a $100 griddler. We tried to find out who sent it to us by asking around but no one knew. I even went to the place we registered to see if they could tell us who bought it, and they wouldn't do it. To this day, we have no idea who sent the gift, and it pisses me off because somewhere out there is someone who bought us a nice wedding gift and they've never been properly thanked. That sucks.

Was there an address on the package? Maybe a city or something? If it was sent from store there should be an order form in the package that has the senders information on it. If not, ask your parents if they know...the rumor mill is great for getting this kind of info

We got this item off our BB&B registry, and if it was pruchsed online the shiping loctaions really dosent give an accurate indication of where it was actually purchased, especialy if it was purchased online they simply find the first of that product they can ship out. </div><div>

Often they will be unable to give out this info, but maybe if they have it they would be nice enough to contact the person for you and ask them to let you know. :)

I received a gift from the registry that had a congrats card generated by the Target gods, but no name. On the packing slip, in the box it came in, was the name of the giver. It still took me a good half-hour to figure out who sent it.

Macy's has a thank you note manager that will give the name of the giver, unfortunately BB&B does not offer this same service. I would let key people know, like your mom, FMIL, and best friends, hopefully they will hear through the rumor mill. When I ship a gift, I always try to contact the couple within a couple weeks to make sure they received it if I haven't heard that they did, hopefully your mystery person will do the same!

I called BB&B today and they were able to look up the sender informaton, so my aunt and uncle can get a proper thank-you!!

I had this problem with my housewarming registry actually.

I did find out who sent the "extra" gift, but it was quite by accident.

I sent out thank you notes (by mail) and mentioned the gift that I got from them with the name that sent it and explained how I was using it.

Lo and behold, I got a call from the one of the people who received a thank you note asking if the other gift got there (and they named the exact gift). They wanted to make sure the gift was not somehow lost. Turns out that one person was generous enough to send two gifts.

It made me glad that I was specific with my thank yous.
