Riverboats/Cruises

Has anyone looked at or used a riverboat or charter cruise for their wedding reception?

I have spent the last 2 months looking at riverboats and charter cruises, both on the river and Lake Mtka.  What kind of info are you looking for?

Hey! We are doing our Grooms Dinner on the lake. Also researched it a ton. We ended up doing the Bella Vista through Al & Alma's out of Wayzata. Good prices and a beautiful boat. Plus it will hold our guests. :) Paradise Charters did my dad's wedding last year and it was beautiful too!

We are just staring the researching/looking process.  I have just started using this site, so I am still working on figuring it all out.  We are thinking about doing a riverboat, either in St. Paul (Paddleford-the Betsey one) or Minneapoilis (the queen or paradise lady).  I guess I am not so keen on the look of them, at least the paddleboats, but my fiance does.  We are thinking to do both our wedding and reception. What is your opinion of the riverboats and what they offer?  Do you think the guests will enjoy?  Have you come across anythings that you didn't like?

We looked at the paddleboats too, but after looking at both a paddleboat and the regular boats, we decided on Paradise Destiny out of Lake Mtka (same company as Paradise Lady).  We went with Lake Mtka because it's half the cost of being on the river.

Pros:  it's unique, we are having a small reception with 60 guests and we can do it all in 4 hours.  We love how easy it will be and little hassle to set up.

Cons:  we weren't thrilled with the size on most of the boats we saw.  And some of the layouts were very awkward.  Biggest con was the price per hour for the boat rental, compared to what you would get at a hall, it seems like a lot.

Feel free to PM me if you have more questions.  Good luck, have fun researching!
