Did you go to the Imperia Bridal Show 4/26? What did you think?

I didn't really look much into the venue or participating vendors before signing up.  The "free goodie bag" got me, but it was nothing more than a paper bag full of business cards and some chocolate kisses.  Oh well.  I was somewhat impressed with the venue and they had a decent selection of photographers to look into.  My main complaint: they advertised passed hors d'oeuvres and had NOTHING vegetarian- I was starving.  I had a dry cupcake from one of the vendors, yuck.  They had an organized end to the evening, a band performance, DJs taking you through a summary of your wedding, then a "fashion show" from Macy's.  Well, at least they tried to organize it.  It was messy and long overall.  They also promised dessert (cake) at the end of the evening, but I suppose the fashion show ran late and by the time they excused us all the cake was cleaned up!  I guess I just wish there was a little more thought put into planning and executing the event.  Hope their weddings aren't like that!

Any of you make it?  What did you think??

The best ones Ive ever gone to were The Basking Ridge CC (they actually did full wedding food! From carving station, to sushi, etc!) and Berkeley Plaza did a nice one too.  They are really just a waste of paper! I did get my photog from it though. I dont like where the Imperia is, just too busy of an area, and not very pretty.

the best one I went to was The Bernards Inn. It was such a nice atmosphere. I am glad we are getting married there in May :)

That's how most of the bridal shows are.  The food depends on what they want to showcase but they are basically all structured the same.  Get up during the show to get your dessert :)

What did you expect in the goodie bag? That's usually what a 'swag bag' is for those events. A bag full of business cards, pens with business names, and little candies/mints. I'm curious what you thought you were getting.

<div>I got one that had a jewelry cleaner kit, and it wasn't just a small sample size.  Along with some chocolates and mini-cupcakes from the food vendors.  I think it all depends on the venue it's held at and the vendors that are there.  They don't all suck.</div>

Thanks for your feedback!  I went to one last night at Windows on the Water at Frogbridge (yes, I know it's BARELY central Jersey), but wow, it was nice.  They didn't have a ton of vendors, but the tent was set up with full reception food stations and dessert.  The patio was set up for a ceremony and the goodie bag was a reuseable shopping bag from theknot.com, a copy of their latest NJ mag, bride pins, a nail file, etc. (that's a GOODIE bag IMO, not just business cards and flyers!).  That impressed me, spoke with some brides getting married there too.  Could be a nice option.  The staff there were all close-talkers though.  That kind of freaks me out.  Oh well.

Good to know about the Basking Ridge CC, a neighbor of my parents had their daughter's wedding there a couple years ago and raved about it to me.  It's a little further north than I want to be, but their next show is on the 17th.  I might try and make it to check out the place.
