August 2012 Weddings

Just recieved a Wedding invite....

We just received a wedding invite to our friends wedding that has a note at the bottom telling us what colors we can and can't wear to the wedding.... Really!??!!

Re: Just recieved a Wedding invite....

  • Thank you for just making my Saturday morning.  Please tell me black and white are two of the colors
    Anniversary
  • I would purposely wear one of the colors on the do not wear list and claim I read the notice wrong. That is just unbelievable.

  • I've heard of themed weddings, like pirates vs. ninjas, where the guests are invited to dress up, but color coordinating....that's completely different. Not something I've ever heard of before.

Do share: what are the colors that are acceptable and not acceptable?
  • That is definitely... interesting... what are the colors??? if it's not black and white then I'm just beyond confused...

  • "We request that guests wear shades of brown, blue, tan, purple or a muted color". Please try to avoid bright colors, like red and orange and yellow and pink. Also, women please don't wear black or white.

  • Are they artists? Because that's the only thing I can think of that would make all of this make sense. I mean I still wouldn't be happy about the color thing, but at least I could understand where the request was coming from. Plus, black is my go-to color, haha.

Also, when is this wedding? I want to know what the guests actually wear! Keep us posted!
  • No they are not artists. There wedding colors are royal blue and orange (last I heard). There wedding is in September, I would usually wear pink or black or some bright color. Ugh
  • I would wear my loudest, brightest outfit. The nerve of some people!
  • I've never heard of anything like this!! Is there a reason? I've never heard that having a wedding guest color palet makes photos look a certain way either... I can't imagine what is the thought behind this? How well do you know this person?

  • Wow that is horrible!!
  • Please go buy something neon yellow.  Ann Taylor has lots in it right now.

  • Oh my goodness.  I'm sure it's for the sake of the pictures, but please--guests as props?!?  I find it odd their planned colors are so bold.  Seems like it would clash with their guests' "muted colors."
If you do wear the "right" colors, please make your hair, jewelry, shoes, and cleavage as obnoxious as possible...say they're the only things you had that matched the dress!

</div><div>Enen then, I feel like everyone wearing the same colors would make pictures bland and boring. I really like the obnoxious accessory idea, although I would probably just wear whatever I was planning to wear already, it that was something bright, oh well.

  • I don't know. It is so weird. I have no idea what I will wear but I am not buying anything new in those colors. I couldn't believe it when I saw the invite.
  • wow thats an extensive list . cant believe that.

  • My wedding colors are black and white, and we have asked all our guests to dress in the color scheme. I would never be so bold as to insist on uncommon colors. I thought requesting black and white is easy as everyone has some of those colors in their closets. We wanted it to give a visual feel to the wedding. We've also asked our photographers to not do any sepia photos, only color and black and white.

  • I went to a wedding last summer where the invitations stated "As our colors are blue and green, we'd ask that you choose to wear a different color to our celebration".. so I wore green. I'd rather have everyone in similar colors so they looked good in the pictures, not all different clashing colors EXCEPT the ones in our theme!

  • I wonder if they are asking the guests to not wear any bright colors so that they dont draw attention away from the bride? Hmmmmm.....sounds odd too me! How close are you with the bride and groom? If you dont care to piss them off, where the loudest color and print you can find! LOL
