Aisle Runner...RED??

My fiance thinks it would be a good idea to have a red aisle runner instead of the traditional white (since our colors are apple red/back/white). I am not totaly against this idea, but I want it to match our colors and I cant seem to find a place to purchse one that is the specific apple red (just regular red or burgandy....which ours is somewhere in between those two colors).

My original idea was to just get a regular white one and scatter red rose petals along the sides of it.

Any ideas??

Thanks
Jessica

Re: Aisle Runner...RED??

  • what about a black isle runner with red petals??? i'll post a link in a minute so you can see !
  • I think if you can find the right shade of red, it would be such a great and unexpected surprise...and potentially add a lot of visual interest to your photos.  You could use white rose petals scattered on them....Of course, if you can find the right shade of red!  I also think the white aisle runner with red rose petals would be very pretty.  As well as the black aisle runner with red rose petals.

Have you thought about DIY?! Maybe going to a fabric store and finding the perfect shade and making one.  I'm not really sure how easy it is to do, but I'm sure the girls on the DIY board would have some great ideas.

I think your decision should be based on your wedding style.  If you want something different and unexpected, I'd try to find a red one, or a black one, since usually aisle runners are white.  If you are traditional, the white one would be perfect.

  • I like the idea of a black runner with red petals, or even red and white petals, but I think it depends on your venue and what would work best visually. I think a white runner with red petals would work better outside on grass.
  • Honestly, we looked everywhere for a red runner, and while I found a lot of them on eBay, I wasn't willing to spend more than $30 on it.  We ended up going with white.

This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • We went with red aisle runners, with carnation petals :)

  • We are not very traditional, it will be an inside wedding and I think both red and black are amazingly unexpected and thats how we both are. I got my dress from DB and it is white with a apple red cuff across the top and goes down the spine of it to the floor expanding towards the floor so that the whole train is red. He is going to wear a black suit with red underneath. (brides maids are wearing black dresses and MOH is wearing a red dress.

I think it would go AMAZINGLY with our decor to have the red, and I am really not looking to pay a WHOLE lot for one, and I found several red ones on ebay for like $50 and that would be fine, but it is Hollywood red and I feel that it would clash.

I am going to look at some DIY boards, maybe that would be a good idea. Please keep and eye out for me if you could:)

    Thanks
  • I love it! I say go for it! I bet it would look amazing in contrast with your white dress.  Would it be that hard to make one if it's too expenisve on ebay?
