how to address save-the-dates???

Hi, we are going to send out our save the dates in a few days, and after getting 2 lists of who to invite--one from each of my parents--I'm seeing that they both addressed people in different ways.  My dad would write something like "John and Sally Smith" while my mom would write "Mr. and Mrs. John Smith."  Which is preferred?  Does it matter?  Yikes, I can't believe I'm worrying about something like this!  Anyway, I'd appreciate your help.  Thanks!

Re: how to address save-the-dates???

  • It depends on the formality of the wedding  to some extent.  You don't write Fred and Wilma Flintstone if the wedding is formal.  That would be Mr. and Mrs. Flintstone without doubt ;)

You could ask those giving you the names (mom) how they prefer to be addressed.

I would err on the side of conservatism if you are unsure.so no one could be offended.

    GL!
  • We didn't use titles for our save the dates, but will for our formal invitations.

  • Oh and ladies first -- so even if you don't use titles it should be Sally and John Smith instead of John and Sally.
