Emerald Cut E-Ring

I was wondering if anyone else on here has an emerald cut E-ring and what your solution wa for finding a band. I have a 1 carat solitare in a very simple white gold setting (no sidestones  and I am having trouble finding a band to go along with it. I feel like every band that I try on the diamond overlaps it and it just doesn't look right. The only thing I've found so far that looks right with it is an enhancer or wrap. I'm not opposed to this idea, but I also like having the option of just wearing a band if I needed/wanted to. I also want sapphires in it as well, but diamonds in the band can always be switched out for sapphires. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I also want something that doesn't look rediculous on my hand. My finger is a size 4 so it  would be easy to over power my hand.

  • If you could have your setting on your e-ring lifted a bit, you'd be able to wear whatever you wanted. Otherwise, I'm not sure what you could do, except keep trying things on!
  • try bluenile.com

Also, a reputable jeweler should be able to assist you in finding what you are looking for. I personally don't like the wraps or enhancers either after trying a few on. You may have to go to a family owned jewelry store if you don't find anything at some of the chain type stores.

Are you considering getting them saudered together? If so, once you find the band, they could make adjustments to the rings (like notching them, for example) so you are happy with the way your e-ring sets against it, etc. I would just do some checking and shopping around. It never hurts to ask too many questions if you aren't sure if something can be done or not.
  • Thanks! I feel like I've gone to every store in town. My ring came from a family owned jeweler, who was great. They from here in TN to New York just to find my stone. I know they could put something together for me, but I know it would also break the bank! I've got plenty of time, I just am already getting discouraged! I really hate the thought of getting my ring reset (I'm a sentimental geek and I'm attached to it).
  • I have a .67 carat emerald cut ring with side stones that came with a matching band. I'm sure once I have both rings on the diamond will overlap a bit, but I have faith it will look fine.

I'm sure if your diamond does overlap it won't look goofy or anything, but it is important that you're comfortable with your choice. I like Knitt's suggestion of having the e-ring lifted a bit if you can do that. I have seen bands where it curves in the middle, so that could be something you can look into.

Btw, don't you just LOVE emerald cuts? I think they are absolutely gorgeous!

  • I totally understand the sentimental aspect. I'd say, find a ring you love and if it overlaps a little, who cares? Also, in Europe it's really common to wear the e-ring on one hand and the wedding band on the other, so that's always an option.
  • Yes! I LOVE my emerald cut. I didn't expect to get one b/c they are so hard to find of any decent quality without it being completely out of the price range an average person can afford.  But alas the FI came through!

I've found an enhancer that has a curved ring on the back and I do like it b/c it does give the appearnce of two rings. I'd be very surprised if my ring could be lifted it seems quite high-set right now. I'm so dang OCD that the zillion bands I've puto n it is has bothered me. I might just have to get over it!

I'm thinking of taking apicture of this in to the place where my ring was made and see if they can make something similar to this to work with my ring and maybe a little less price-wise too.

  • My friend has an emerald cut ring.  Its too low to place a band under it.  She got a custom band made to go around the stone.  That looked a little funny so she got another custom band to go around the top half.  Its gorgeous. Her ering band is plaing but the wedding rings are bands with small channel set diamonds.

  • I have an Asscher cut engagement ring, which is basically a square Emerald cut.  Because of the shape of the stone and the band, I was bound to either have overhang or a gap between my rings.. I ended up with a small gap, but it's really not noticeable, and I love the way my rings look together.

I think once you find the ring you love, it won't really matter to you if they fit *perfectly*... because they'll be perfect for *you* :)

  • I"m late to this thread but I have what sounds like exactly your ring... and (you can see a picture in my bio) I got a band of all baguettes/eternity ring; I think the baguettes keep the eye going vertical with the emerald cut & really complement it.

The bands of both rings lie flush; the diamond "overhangs" the band just a bit but I love how that looks BECAUSE of the baguettes...I didn't like it with other bands I tried on, it didn't look good/right/complementary. Good luck! :)
