Opinions wanted re BM dress and busty BM- PIP and x-posted

Hi there everyone!  After a long search, I found a BM dress I really like:

This dress is hand maid from a vendor on etsy.  The drawback is that the listing states it is best for an A or B cup.  At least one of my bridesmaids is not an A or B- probably a D.  I am trying to arrange a pilgrimmage to brooklyn with all the girls so we can hopefully try on a sample, but my larger busted BM has been being hard to pin down and and is saying "wahtever you decide will be good, you know I don't mind low cut!"

I am thinking that since they make it to each girls' measurements, it may be ok.  Of course I am going to ask the dressmaker their opinion.  But what do you all think?  I am going to try to rearrange the trip to the dressmaker, but I don't want to make it seem that I am insisting on her coming just bc she is large busted and make her feel weird.  She is very easy going.

Anyway just curious your opinions.  I was so hoping I had found the perfect dress but as always in wedding-land, things are never as easy as the first appear to be!
thanks for your insight,
Noelle

You could always send her measurements to the designer and ask if they can make one that won't show too much cleavage... you know, just a little bit higher of a neckline. It shouldn't be hard to do.

ETA: Or maybe let the designer know the issue and maybe they'll have a recommendation. The bridesmaids could each have a different neckline maybe?
  • I would also talk with the vender about measurements, but another possibility would be to get a lace bandeau top for them to wear under the dress so that it ends up not being so showy. :)

    Beautiful dress by the way
  • If you don't mind her having cleavage, I think it would be very pretty. I am busty (38DD) and I would wear a dress like this; I would think it would be flattering. Trying on a sample would be ideal but I don't think necessary, especially if the designer creates the dress based on measurements.
  • Love the dress!  I'd talk with the designer.  I'd think with her measurements the designer could make adjustments.

My BM dresses were somewhat similar and I had  34DD and 36D BMs.  I actually thought the cut looked good on the "endowed" girls.

Oh I love the dress!!  I'm a busty gal (38DD) and I think that dress would look great!    My only concern for wearing that dress personally would be that my bra wouldn't show in the cleavage but so long as the seamstress knows the measurements that part could be adjusted accordingly.   That's the beauty of having a handmade dress :)

  • I would either opt for a different neckline, something underneath, or a higher neckline as PP have said.

Just my opinion (which tends to be conservative with these type things) I just don't think cleavage is proper in a wedding party or even as a guest really. I just think weddings should be a bit more covered up out of respect to the bride and the type of party it is. I have cousins who are quite well endowed and managed to pull of beautiful dresses without showing cleavage so it can work.
  • I'm gigantic (like, G or H cup) and I would totally wear that BUT I'd have to wear a camisole underneath or it'd be a total peep show at your wedding.
  • I'm a 36DD and I would only wear that with something under it.  Based on previous responses, it really depends on the girl.  If you really love it, go for it but let her wear something under it if necessary.

  • I am a 32 DD and I would look HOT in that dress.

Now the caveats are: 1) by "hot" I mean, I would have a ton of cleavage so you'd have to be down with that, and 2) your BMs would have to be down with wearing an immodest neckline.

If both of those things work then go for it.  (And believe me, as a BM I would love to rock that dress).
