Day of Schedule

Hello Ladies -

What are you doing for day of schedule?  How long are you allowing for ceremony?  cake cutting?  toasts?  first dance? etc?

Thanks!

Re: Day of Schedule

  • I don't think I'll have a schedule past post-ceremony photos, but an order.

For our Solemn High Nuptial Mass, I have 75-90 minutes.

For post-ceremony photos + hors d'ouvers, I have an hour.

For Grace, B'ruchos, Toasts, I think I have 20 minutes. If we wrap all these into the rabbi's time, it will be 20 minutes and everything else but Grace will be skipped.

Then I guess I do have an hour for dinner.

Then cake-cutting. Then when everyone's been served cake, the first dance. Then general dancing until people go home. No tosses. No send-off.
  • I'm usually a planner - down to the minute... At work, I'm the one always on time to the meetings, and keeping track of time during meetings to make sure we don't run over... but oddly enough, I'm not worried about the 'day of' schedule... am I relying too much on my wedding coordinator?

  • My coordinator at the venue actually did one down to the minute for us. If you want to PM me I'll send you the file. It was really helpful!

  • BTW, my fiance and I recently crashed a wedding. We didn't actually crash it. We toured the venue before it started then walked way far away and observed. This allowed me to just observe, and to watch my watch without being rude. Lesson:

A whole-group photo takes at least 10 minutes for about 100 guests.

People had to get up from their seats and move to the photo area, arrange themselves kind of by height. Small children had to run around a bit and then be picked up. The bride had to check her hair. The photographers had to set up their equipment.

WOW!  I need to start working on mine lol

Here's mine so far, and mind you this is only in my head as we havent sat down with the venue coordinator as of yet:

12 PM:  Begin hair and makeup (mine, my mother's, my sister's, and my FSIL)
3 PM:  Complete hair and makeup (talked this over with both hair stylist and MUA and was given the OK)
3-4 PM: Eat lunch, organize all the essentials, pack up the cars, and help my mom and sister get ready
4-4:30 PM:  Get ready to head out (this actually needs to be planned since we are ALWAYS running late and backtracking for stuff we forgot lol)
5-5:30 PM:  Arrive @ the venue.  Meet with one of the photographers to have my pictues taken while getting dressed, touching up makeup, putting on jewelry, and with my mom, FMIL, and sisters.  At the same time, our other photographer will be taking pictures of FI, his dad and brother and my dad and brother.
6 PM:  First Look photo with FI, as well as some pre-ceremony photos with FI.
6:30 PM: Walk down the aisle. Ceremony should be no longer than 15 minutes.
6:45-7:30ish:  After-ceremony shots with HUSBAND!!, Family
    7:30-8:30:  Dinner, toasts, etc.
    8:30-1AM:  PARTY TIME!!

We have the venue officially from 5PM until 1AM, so depending on how hype the party is will determine how long we will stay.  Since our photogs will only be staying until about 11:30, we will most likely be doing a "Mock Goodbye" shot of us leaving with sparklers!!

  • wow kg!!  that's a long day!!  I thought my day was intense!  I've only been to two catholic weddings...one was an extremely long service, and the other was a more condensed version (since her side of the family was not catholic, I guess)...
    Anniversary
  • We all have long days, it is the same 12 hour day you have, just shifted up.  There is no way FI would make it to 1AM, he is so not a night person.  Yep, we are doing the whole, long Catholic service, it is basically a regular Sunday service (avg. 60 mins) plus the wedding stuff in the middle.  Probably 80-90% of the guests are Catholic so I don't think too many people will be surprised.
