Yesterday was my bridal shower. Irene rained on my parade. I hate sharing the spotlight.
The afternoon was beautiful - I was surrounded by family and friends who truly care about my FI and I. The food was delicious, the company incredible and the day memorable.
My mother, sister, sister-in-law and best friend put the whole day together. The floral arrangments were beautiful (too bad there were no photos taken or I would show you) and put into mason jars. My sister-in-law made the photo centerpieces and the favor magnets, as well as made over 3 dozen cookies (another favor). I found out that on Friday night they were at my mother's house until 11 PM rolling fondant for the cookies and piping each with a monogram.
We played "how well do you know your future spouse." As you can see from a photo or two we obviously disagreed on what we ate at our first dinner. Valentino was given a cowboy hat to wear and I an Amish hat and a veil. The veil kept falling off and I found out today that it was my mother's veil that she had cut. I told her I would wear it for the rehearsal.
It was hard for me to enjoy myself because I have been troubled and preoccupied by a very tense situation mentioned in a previous post. I almost broke down a few times, but my mother managed to cheer me up.
I attached a few photos if you are interested. If it were not my shower I would have taken photos of everything and everyone. I am sure there are other pics on family and friend's cameras, but I do not yet have those.
For guests who were unable to make it, but sent gifts, we wrote a "thank you" on the dry erase board, took a photo and will send it to them.
Yesterday flew by. My home was invaded by boxes - they are somewhat organized now, but I will be thankful when each item finds its home.
The bottom photo is somewhat funny. We did not find a card for the gift and when we opened it, I knew exactly what it was. Valentino thanked whoever gave us the towels and I responded, "thank you." I found towels that I liked, but discovered they were being discontinued. I bought them on the spot and hid that at my mother's place. That got a few chuckles from our guests.
