Bridal Party-Who buys what?

I'm the Bride, and I have 7 girls in my bridal party.

I want to buy the personalized hangers and tank tops that say bridesmaids, but alot of the sets come with Bride ones as well. Do I buy myself one and hope that no one in my party buys me one?

Re: Bridal Party-Who buys what?

  • Are the hangers and tank tops their bridesmaid gift?? If so, just buy the set that includes the bride one too - tell the girls in passing that you are excited that you treated yourself to a fun hanger and tank top in order to keep their gift a surprise but let them know not to get you the same thing. If they are not their gift and just something nice you are doing - just let them know.

If you want to buy these items go ahead, but they should definitely not be considered part of their BM gift!  These items are essentially for the bride and her pretty pictures, not for the members of her bridal party.

BM gifts should be items that are picked individually for each girl and match their likes and hobbies.  Basically you have to think of it as buying something for their birthday or Christmas.

OP, you can buy yourself a "bride" hanger and "bride" tank top along with the others if it is what you really want.  But again, please do not include these items in with their BM presents.

Tank tops and hangers are NOT NOT NOT gifts.

They are things for your wedding that no one will use again. I personally look horrible in flimsy tank tops like the "bridesmaid" ones, so I would likely not even wear it at all since it is so unflattering.

If you want a "Bride" tank top or hoodie, buy your own.

I'd say it's safe to buy your own bedazzled bride stuff. Odds are nobody will buy that for you. And since nobody will want or need those after the wedding, I suggest going as inexpensive as possible. For mine, I bought a plain black tank top in heavy material (b/c I didn't want flimsy) at Hobby Lobby for about $4 and then went to the scrapbooking section and got a rhinestone sticker word that said "Bride" on it. When the wedding was over, I peeled it off, threw it away, and still had a nice black tank that I can still wear.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Save your money. These things are a waste that no one will like or even use again.

The sticker thing is such a good idea! I'd never thought of that.
