To elope or not to elope is a very personal decision that this board can't really make for you.You and your FI should sit down and really think and talk it out to make sure you're making the right decision and not one you will regret years from now.

If you do elope, you can still wear a white dress, have a bouquet, and your FI can wear a tux.

  • Agreed with Calla.

It also depends on your definition of "elope". Do you mean a private ceremony with just you and FI in your hometown? Or a ceremony in a different state/country?

If you Google "Wedding officiants in (insert city name here)" you can certainly find some officiants for hire.

Also check with the requirements at the County Clerk's office where you are planning to be married. Some require officiants to be registered or verified before a marriage ceremony can be performed.
  • Finding an officiant isn't difficult at all...  Eloping doesn't mean you can't have a fancy dress, tux, flowers, etc...it's just the two of you and not a gob of guests.
  • If that's what you want go for it, that's what my fiancée and I wanted to do but were forced out of it by his family (joy). It's terribly more romantic and so much more cost effective.

  • You have FOUR YEARS AND THREE WEEKS before your wedding day.   That's plenty of time to find a nice venue that suits you both, and plenty of time to find an officiant.

[QUOTE]Why are you having trouble finding someone to marry you? Check the phone book or Craig's list for officiants in the area where you want to get married.
