I'm currently reading Twilight....I'm only in ch 7 but I just can't get into it...

I'm going to read Life of Pi next...I've heard great things about it.

Please keep the suggestions coming...I too want to get back into reading.

I use to read a lot of thriller/suspense like novels, I liked Angel's & Demons etc. But  I want to broaden my horizons :)

For trashy mindless reads I would recommend the Sookie Stackhouse series - what True Blood is based off of.

I liked A Thousand Splendid Sons and Kite Runner, too.

I also liked The Lovely Bones, even though it was sad, but the over all premise is not what one expects.

The Lovely Bones is a good story - sad, then infuriating, then hopeful.

I'm partial to murder mysteries. Give me a dead body in the first three chapters, a few twists and a wrapped-up ending and I'm happy:) James Patterson is good for this, as are Mary Higgins Clark, Lisa Garnder, J.A. Jance, Greg Iles, and tons of others.

My other favorite genre is historical fiction. Diana Gabaldon (LOVE her Outlander series, but I'm not familiar with the Lord John Grey series), Jenna Blum, Kathleen Kent, etc.

Then there's authors I like - Jodi Picoult, Dan Brown, Oscar Wilde, Edgar Allen Poe.

It all comes down to what kind of story you want to read. Narrow it by that and I should be able to give you some good titles or authors.

I'm opened to anything. Im usually a thriller person but I need to stop because I tend to get really scared after rreading. LOL
