Hello ladies, I just got married June 5th yay and now I'm back from my honeymoon. Does anyone know what to do when it comes to changing your name? I know it involves the Social Security office and ya that's all I have so far. LOL Please help!

Congrats! I think the other major change is at the DMV.

Also remember to change your name at your universities, voter registration, your cc, and bank accounts

Your first step is to change your social security. Just take your marriage license with you. You have to change your SS in order to change everything else.

I was married in 2005 and I never changed my SS... Oops. Just never got around to it... I have to put my maiden name on our tax return every year.

Did change my driver's license though...

Take a photo ID, and your Marriage license to the Social security office and they will change your name for your SSN.

as far as your license, go on the FL DMV website and read through all the documents you have to take to change your name. The rules changed and from what i've heard its quite the process to get your name changed on your license, they require several types of documentation.

Also, you can make an appt @ your local DMV, i would recommend doing that rather then going and sitting for hours. i made an appt & was in and out in 15 min.

btw.. This is my first time on the knot in over a year- The NEST boards are down right now =/
