Topsfield/Danvers Venue that won't cost a fortune?

Hello fellow knotties!  This is my first post and I'm wondering if any of you have suggestions on venues.  I've looked into Willowdale Estates, Glen Magna Farms, and Topsfield Commons and they're all pretty expensive.  I'm getting married next spring and would love a venue where we can do both reception AND ceremony but won't blow our whole budget.  I need to start thinking outside the box!  Any other brides on a budget have ideas?

Thanks so much!

Hi! This is actually my first post as well :) I am on also on a tight budget and was really discouraged at the prices of some venues in this area. We finally found one that fit our budget and is both beautiful and unique, the 1640 Hart House in Ipswich. We are getting married there next May and I couldn't be happier with it. It's actually an old house they turned into a restaraunt so you have the option to rent just the main dining room (with two smaller rooms attached) or you have the option of renting out the whole restaraunt for the evening which could be really cool if you have the extra to spend. Also from what I hear from family and friends, the food is fantastic. You can get married on site either inside or on the lawn outside but we chose to have our ceremony at my grandparents nearby instead. It's definitly worth checking out!

Welcome!  A few things that you may want to let us know... how many people are you expecting at the wedding, what is your budget?   We got married at the Danversport Yacht Club on a Friday in November, we had 120 people.  We had both our ceremony AND reception there.  If it's nice weather you can have your ceremony outdoors, ours was indoors and was beautiful!  There are minimums for each of the different rooms that they have.  Some people are fans of the Yacht Club, some are not. Personally we had **an amazing wedding**, a fabulous experience and planned my entire wedding from Los Angeles with a few trips east to take care of some of the details.  I would recommend them to anyone looking for a venue.  So much is included in the Yacht Club's per person charge.  Cake, tipping and taxes and service charges, fresh flowers for the head table and flowers for the cake if you need or want them. We didn't have flowers on our cake so they were displayed on the cake table...and so much more is included in the per person cost.  Check out their site or give them a call.  Lauren was our coordinator but all of the coordinators are amazing.

Good Luck with whatever venue you end up with.

  • If we knew your budget per person or overall for venue that would be helpful, as well as how many people you are looking to invite.

I can recommend Groveland Fairways, it is in Groveland which is a bit further north than Topsfield/Danvers but is a gorgeous venue and well-priced.  It also has 3 different caterers that can be used with different price ranges.

  • I don't know if you've checked out the Mansion on Turner Hill yet but it is A-MAZING and they offer a winter discount from december to april (so if you were thinking early spring this could work) where they discount their 8k rental fee to 1k!!! We put a deposit down but had to change our venue, I am still a little sad because we were getting such an amazing deal. The food is awesome and not that expensive either. Good luck!
  • I have heard that the Black Swan County Club in Georgetown is reasonable, but have not seen it for myself.

  • What about the Gould Barn in Topsfield, across the street from The Commons?
  • I second Groveland Fairways. We're getting married there next June and it's gorgeous. We're planning on having our ceremony (outside fingers crossed) and reception there and they have caterers they recommend in all price ranges. I also liked the Black Swan Country Club but chose to go with Groveland Fairways because I liked their ceremony area better. They're both worth looking into and only an extra 10-15 minutes from Willowdale Estate.
