Dress Alterations

Ladies,

I got an amazing dress at a great price.  The length will work but I'd prefer to have it hemmed to remove the train which I think is about two feet.  It's very pretty, but we're having a beach wedding, and I think it will just be in the way.  The way the bottom of the dress is made, I think it would be fairly simple to accomplish this.

Does anyone know a tailor/alterations person who can do this in town or possibly how much it would cost?

Any recommendations for alterations would be helpful.

Thanks!!

A lot of ladies have used Janet Kirkman (www.janetkirkman.com/) and been very happy with her.

I personally would also rec Sandra Denley from Alterations, etc.   Sandra has her price listing on her site (www.alterationsetc.net/).

I went to the Wedding Accessory Superstore. They did a great job on my dress and the price was cheap (compared to other quotes I got).

I am going with Janet Kirkman.  I had my first fitting this past Saturday and I go back next Saturday.  Her prices are reasonable and I feel confident she knows what she's doing and will do a good job.

I agree with PP and love Janet Kirkman.  Her prices are really great...she actually came in about 1/2 of what she quoted which was an added bonus Smile

Another Janet Kirkman fan!  I had a bulk of the alterations done in Vegas (where I currently live) but had last minute stuff done by her in Phx, she was great!

I just came back from my initial fitting with Janet Kirkman and I absolutely love her! My sister even made an appointment on the spot with her to alter her BM dress.

The only thing I must warn you is that she said she is going on vacation the last 3 weeks of December so if you're going to need your dress anytime during then or right after, you might want to find someone else. She said she'd have my dress ready for me on Dec 4th or at the latest the following week, but if there were any last minute adjustments needed she wouldn't be able to do them (my wedding is Jan. 1st). I'm pretty confident that her work will be amazing and I won't need anything else, though, and she also said she could give some recommendations for emergency seamstress needs.
