AW: Disney!

Sam and I went to Disney this weekend!

We both had awful traffic on the way there, but we went out to Hooters in the evening to grab a bite to eat.  It was like we've always known each other!

Saturday we went to Shades of Green to buy the military discounted tickets before heading over to Animal Kingdom.  Did a few rides, took some pictures with Winnie the Pooh, and then headed over to Epcot where we ate Mexican food, drank our way around the world, and then had hibachi for dinner before the fireworks show, and then going back and crashing asleep!

Sunday it was rainy, so we slept in a bit, and then went to Hollywood Studios.  Sam and I did the Tower of Terror, which was awesome!  Then we went to Epcot for lunch at the Chinese restaurant before heading over to Magic Kingdom.  Did all the rides we wanted to do, then saw the parades and fireworks!  Then back asleep, and up early to drive home.

Overall, a great weekend - I'm sure Sam will add to this when she gets done with her long drive today.  It was SO great meeting her in person, and I'm sure we'll do more girls' weekends in the future!

  • Love you that you guys went without children.  I really want to check out the Harry Potter World but H says we can't unti we have kids. :( So I may have to schedule a pit stop during a trip while he is gone lol.

  • Love it! One of my favorite rides is Tower of Terror!!!! But it sounds like FL's Disney is WAY better than CA's Disney! Especially since you can drink around the world!
  • That settles it, having never been, I am making DH take me when he gets back and I'm done with training.

  • Shan, I love Disney as an adult!  But it would be a totally different experience to bring kids.  There's a lot of stuff that I don't do as an adult that I would do with kids, and would make it totally different.  I really look forward to that someday!

With Universal, I think it's actually better as adults.  It isn't a park that is great for little kids, in my opinion.  There's a focus on rollercoasters and thrill rides, whereas Disney is more character focused.  Which I think makes Universal a better option for teens rather than young kids.  And the Harry Potter World is totally geared towards Potterheads, mostly older teens and 20-somethings (and people like my Mom, who are a tad obsessed).  I haven't gone yet, but I have a LOT of friends who have and loved it, and none of them have kids!

  • Shan - You totally don't have to go to Disney with kids! I took FI to Disney last year  and he was really skeptical about it... he thought it was going to be kiddish and boring and wanted to go to Universal. But because I had Free tickets to Disney we opted for Disney. HE LOVED IT.  What he loved about it is the attention to detail, instead of just the thrill of the ride.. the experience you get standing in-line almost makes it tolerable! Most of their new queues are very interactive with games to pass the time.

Plus all the parks have alcohol.... which is just fantastic. Except Magic Kingdom... which is the only park you feel like you NEED it because of the surplus of kids and double wide strollers.

But  you have to keep in mind that Disney isn't an "Amusement park" it is a "Theme Park"

    Sorry, I just LOVE Disney!!

  • That makes me want to go back to Disney sooooo bad. I love that place! It looks like y'all had an awesome time!!!

  • Woo hoo!  Looks like you guys had an awesome time.  :)  I love Disney World.  I want to convince the FI to go there but he wants to go see the actual world, LOL.
  • I love Disney World.  We have gone 5 times in the last 11 years.  Everytime we go and I see Cinderella's castle all lit up at night I tell my DH, "I want one!"  I stil do not have my castle damn it.

Glad you had such a great time.
  • What great pictures!!! I'm so glad you 2 had a blast.

Shan: I will GLADLY go to WoW of HP with you, H doesn't want to go because he hates anything HP. I hate him. haha
  • Confession: I cried during the fireworks.  haha.. the backstory behind that is that I hated fireworks but C was just so excited and I was like "Eh I'll give this a chance".  I'm IN LOVE with Disney Fireworks. So much so that I've decided that if/when I get propsed to again.. IT BETTER BE DURING FIREWORKS AT DISNEY!!!  In all seriousness though I had THE BEST weekend!! I can't wait for another g2g weekend!!!

True story - my sister's FI proposed to her during the Disney fireworks. It was seriously perfect for her, she's the biggest Disney-freak I know. :)
