After Party

We are trying to figure out what to do for our after party. We are having a wedding with 100 guests and would lost to have a post-reception party to invite all our friends that won't be at the wedding. Any ideas on location?

Are you having a reception? A post-reception party means you're having a party after your reception. Is this correct?

I know my FI and our wedding party are going out after our wedding (it's only 60 people) and inviting people down to the levee for drinks and such. There are a lot of places there, depending on where your venue is

Yes it is a party after the reception...futuregabriel I've thought about the levee...thing is I'm pretty sure there will be quite a handful of people and I think we are leaning towards something more private. The levee is definitely an idea though. I've considered the party room at star lanes.

an after party is normally set up by word of mouth, letting wedding guests know that the bride and groom will be at a certain location after the reception. people are welcome to join in, but they pay their own way.

if you set up something like a party room, you're kinda having a second reception and people will assume you're hosting (paying for everything).

also, if you invite people to the after party who weren't invited to the wedding, that's not very nice. people often want to see the ceremony since that's the whole reason you're celebrating on that particular day.

We're having an "after-party" but we're doing what PP said. We're letting the guests know where we will be going after the reception, & if they would like to join, great! We are renting a limo though for those in the wedding party & a few other people involved in the wedding to ride with us!

I agree that if you book a private room somewhere, your guests may think that you are going to pay for everything.

Ok that sounds like a great idea. I don't see how it's rude. All of the people we told about it were absolutely fine with it. They told us they were just happy for us and would love to celebrate with us later.
