Check and a "yay"!

Found a new slip online today someone was trying to get rid of.  It looks exactly what I tried on at my fitting.  It was only $30 with shipping so definitely came out too way cheaper than a hem would be.  Unfortunately I won't be able to try it with my dress until August 4 when my second fitting is so fingers crossed it'll be "poofy" enough because otherwise I'll have less than 2 months to get a different one.

I'm pretty diligent about keeping up our wedding budget.  Today I looked at our total estimated cost and it is about $400 less than the last time I remember noticing it!  I clearly shaved some costs (or overestimated things) over the past few weeks but to see that number was just so exciting.  Especially this late in the game when all that will have a huge financial impact is less people being able to come than we estimate.  But, all my little cost savings add up too!

Re: Check and a "yay"!

  • Well thats cool! I hope your slip fits!

I never made a budget because I had no idea how much anything costed in the first place. However, compared to other weddings, we are definitely a lot cheaper. We utilized a lot of friends as vendors, so costs were way below what they would be if we went with any vendor. The caterer, DJ, photog, officiant, and florist are all friends of ours. Yay for small town living haha. But like you said, every penny you can save sure does add up!
  • Woot! Good news on the budget! A similar thing happened to FI and I. I had budgeted WAY higher than I should have (there's literally no way we could have done it without dipping into savings), but we got REALLY lucky with big gifts from our parents/grand parents.
