Bridal District

What dress shops do you recommend going to in the Bridal District? I'm coming down shopping this weekend from Columbus so I want to make my trip worth while!

Most of the shops are VERY busy on the weekend. You will want an appointment wherever you go. I found my dress at Bridal and Formal-  they are very crowded on the weekends so be patient and make sure you have an apt.  I hear others like European Bridal but they were complete b*tches to me when I brought in my fiance with me. they lost my business really quick

I second Bridal and Formal.  I bought my dress from there; they are busy on the weekends- I recommend an appt and going early in the morning.  I went about about 10am and left around noon smiling because I found and bought my dress right there.

I dislike Bridal and Formal and had much better luck across the street at Wendy's Cincinnati Bride.  I didn't have an appointment and got excellent service there.

It's unfortunate, but it is inevitable that you will get poor service on the weekend at bridal and formal.  However, their selection is by far the largest.  You can probably hit up most of them if you make one hour appointments.  If you go to B+F, prepare to spend a long time, though.

I recommend Bridal and Formal.  I went during the week to avoid the crowd so I received EXCELLENT service.  The lady that worked with me was awesome and helped just myself for the few hours I was there.  They had a huge selection and I ordered my dress there.

I went to Wendy's Bridal across the street as well.  I didn't even receive one on one attention being there during the week (I can't even imagine what the weekend would be like).  This was frustrating because I needed the consultant to help me in and out of my dresses I was trying on and since she was with other brides I waited very long inbetween dresses.  And this was during the week!  They did have a pretty big selection but not as big as bridal and formal.

Here's my review of Wendy's Bridal:

I took a day off of work and made appointments to go dress shopping on a Friday to avoid the crowds.  My appointment at Wendy's was towards the end of the day.  We were delayed in a traffic jam on the way there (called to tell them we'd be late), so when we got there it was only about an hour before the shop closed.  The sales lady we were assigned to was very unhelpful and clearly just wanted to rush us out of there.  She almost seemed annoyed that we were there and told me that I only had about and hour, which was only time for 4 dresses.  She hovered while I picked out 4 (did not help make suggestions or ask what I liked), took them to the dressing room for me, and then left.  I should mention that at the time there were no other customers to be seen in the store and several sales clerks available.  She came back to the dressing room and saw my mom struggling to help me into the dress, so then she began helping me in and out of the dresses (in my opinion, only because that helped move us out faster).   At another store the clerk would clip the dresses together in the back so I could see what they'd look like if they were in my size.  The sales clerk at Wendy's didn't bother to do that.  She had me in and out of those 4 dresses within a half hour, which was still a half hour before the shop closed.  As she got me out of the last dress, she actually thanked me for being "nice and quick, just as she liked".  Since there was still a half hour until the store closed and I wasn't about to ask to try on more bridal gowns there, we went to the bridesmaids section to browse.  I saw my sales lady say goodbye to the other clerks and leave early, so I guess it was the case that she wanted to hurry up and leave (still not sure why one of the other clerks would not have been the one assigned to help us if that was the case).

Since we still had a half hour left, we went over to the bridesmaids section to browse.  Our original sales lady popped her head in a couple of times before she left, as did a couple of others.  Maybe they were trying to be helpful, but due to all the rushing we'd felt on the bridal dress side, each time they asked if we needed anything or hovered around, I almost took it to mean that they were trying to rush us out of there.  As we walked out, they turned off the lights.

The only positive thing I have to say is that it looked like they had a good selection of dresses, and they were priced reasonably.  I guess you sacrifice customer service for price in order to shop there though, and I'd be afraid of having issues during the dress ordering process that would not be professionally addressed.  One of the other sales clerks told me that Saturdays are very busy but Sunday mornings are a good time to go, so maybe give that a try if you go there and you'll have a better experience than I did.  Clearly if you go at the end of the day on a Friday the sales associates are more interested in starting their weekend than in helping to sell you a dress.

This is one of the shops, by the way, that rips the tags out of their bridal gowns so you can't see which designer's dress you're trying on, so be aware of that if that is a turnoff for you.  The bridesmaids dresses did still have the designer tags.

My experience earlier in the day at a different dress shop (Fabulous Bridal in Covington) was so vastly different because the clerk there treated us so well- it really did show a day and night difference between a good and a poor customer service experience.
