Reception vs Light Reception

Hi,

What's the difference between light reception vs reception?
I want to word it great so that it wont confuse my guests.

My reception will be at 1-4pm
I am thinking of having "sandwiches turkey croissant and tortilla ham for western flare
also rice with 3 dishes"

of course then with appetizers choices with dessert table
I am thinking of setting up like "Western Flare" "Chinese Flare" and "Indonesian Flare"

Let me know whether this will be considered as Reception or light reception.
Thank you so much!

Hmmm...I've never heard the terminology "light reception" although I am sure it is just a terminology to let guests know that there is not a full meal.

I am not sure I am understanding what you're offering. What are the rice with 3 dishes things?  Is that the same as the Western, Chinese, and Indonesian things?  Like rice done three different ways?

If you're having rice-3-ways and sandwiches I would agree that it is a "light" reception (if I was right about what that means in the first place).  I wouldn't give a description of the actual offerings on your invite; just say "light reception" if that's the norm in your area.

I am thinking of setting up 3 stations:
1 European station with cheese and crackers
    - croissant turkey sandwiches
    -tortillas ham wrap
    (costco bought)

    2. Chinese station with spring rolls
    1 rice with pork chop
    honey walnut prawns

    3. Indonesian station with starter somewhat like small chicken pot pie
    chicken satay skewers
    fish grilled.

of course then with dessert and fruit platters on the side
Is this considered light reception or full reception in your opinion?

    Thanks!

I think that would be a full reception.

Now that you've explained your menu, I think you're fine to tell your guests "reception to follow," if that's what you're asking.  That looks like plenty of food for a meal (although almost nothing for vegetarians, are you sure you don't have any vegetarians coming?).

Thanks Jessica for pointing that out! I totally forgot.
I don't think I will be having vegetarians coming but, i might be wrong :P
But i will be sure to include salad on my western menu. tofu veggie stir fry on the asians :)

Thank you people for your inputs!! =)
