How many people does the Aqua Turf Club Chapel actually hold?

We really want to have our reception at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville but we also need a place to get married.  We were told the chapel there will hold up to 240 people but it appears to be too small for that many people.  Has anyone had their ceremony there or been to a ceremony at the Chapel in the Pines (Aqua Turf Club Chapel) and if so how many people were in attendance?  I'm nervous to say yes and then have my guests not be able to fit comfortably in there.  We are looking at 250 guests knowing some will not be able to attend.  Please let me know what you think!  Also, anyone have any ideas on how to brighten the place up?  It is awfully dark in there for a chapel.  Thanks!

I think your best bet would be to call Aqua Turf and ask how many guests can comfortably fit (seated) in the chapel.

We have already asked and they claim 240 but the place looks too small for that.  On our visit we sat 4 adults and a 7 year old in a pew and that was comfortable.  So say 5 people per pew times 30 pews = 150 people.  But there were basic chairs set up in the back also.  I just couldn't imagine 240 people in there but if someone can say its been done or have a number close to it where their guests were comfortable it'd make me feel a lot better.  We really need a nondenomenational place to get married by a JOP and I have had zero luck finding anything in Plantsville or the surrounding towns so far.  I'm freaking a little LOL!

I went to a wedding there in May and there were about 230 people at the reception, but I don't know if everyone made it into the chapel.  I know there were people standing in the back (I don't know if that was their choice to stand) but there were also empty seats.  I would also caution that even if it holds 240 people, some of the seats are really bad (I'm talking you can't see the alter because there is a huge wooden post in the way!)  FI and I picked the wrong seat when we first sat down, but luckily we got there early enough that we were able to switch seats.

Not sure the time of year you are thinking too buuut we are having our reception there (but getting married in a church) and when we were there they did say if we did the chapel you could also get married outside near the gazebo? Not sure where that was cos again, went there in the rain, and had no interest because knew we were getting married in a church- but just a thought.

eek careful of that. They charge you to set up the chairs if you get married outside, and if it rains, your SOL because they don't hold the chapel for people doing an outside wedding in case it rains

The gazebo would be beautiful but they charge you the normal rate to get married there plus $3 per chair to set up which I think is disgusting.  And ur right if it rains you get married on the dance floor.  I just don't understand how you can charge the same price to get married at the gazebo as you do the chapel and then charge a chair fee on top of it.  It'd be like $1300 to be married outside.  Umm I'm thinking no!  Thank you for ur help.  I'm really hoping I won't have to settle in this area.
